Perspectives from philosophy, neuroscience and psychology, spirituality and everyday life, and the hard sciences were discussed by the professionals of the study house and the audience present.

Professors from educational establishments, professionals from other disciplines, older adults, students and academics from the University of La Serena, met at the Extension Center of the house of higher education to give life to the Colloquium on Critical Approaches to the Truth.

The speakers of this activity, organized by the Department of Psychology and the Extension Directorate of the ULS, were the academics Dr. Mauricio González and Mg. Mauricio Cerda (Dept. of Psychology), Dr. Marco Corgini (Dept. of Mathematics) and Dr. Francisco Roco (Dept. of Education), and the manager of the U. de La Serena Publishing House, Alejandro Abufom.

For just over three hours, representatives of the institution addressed the concept of truth from their different areas of work and interest: philosophy, spirituality and everyday life, hard sciences, neuroscience and psychology, interacting with the public, answering your questions and generating discussion on the different aspects mentioned.

History and social changes, assumptions about different events, philosophical positions, religion, politics, the human brain and many other areas were part of the presentations listened to with great attention by the dozens of attendees. In this way, as indicated by the director of the Department. of Psychology, Dr. Mauricio González, "the expectation was met because precisely the objective was to be able to get closer to the community and, on the other hand, also have a dialogue between colleagues or initiate a dialogue. The idea was always to have many perspectives.''

In this regard, Dr. Marco Corgini added that ''I am impressed. A lot of people came, they were very interested, they asked very interesting and important questions. It seems to me that this is a very good link between the institution and the environment and it is something that should not end. The important thing is that there were several views, we are all different and, as I said in the presentation, the differences are not relevant here. We have realized in this discussion that the fundamental issues do not have to do with that, but with tolerance, the debate of ideas, etc. That's the main''.

For his part, Dr. Francisco Roco expressed that “I am very pleased that the University informs, tells, and shares with the community the work that is carried out within it. It is an ethical and moral issue for a university to project itself into the community.” Likewise, he commented that he would love to bring forward a new version of the event, ''looking at the best within ourselves from a different perspective. I would like to approach it from the perspective of a very 'lying' knowledge that speaks of truth, art, which is a beautiful, true, playful lie that enchants. There is a very deep connection with the truth there. I think the community would like that topic too.''

For Alejandro Abufom, the evaluation of the colloquium is also positive, since ''there was no implicit complicity, but rather different perspectives: that of a philosopher, with comments on Heidegger, Mario Bunge, etc., spiritual traditions, history of science, neurosciences and a little from politics. The objective was met and the people who came had a very good reception, so we are super happy, we hope it will be replicated with another topic. We must generate dialogue, that is the objective of these activities, in addition to the extension of the university, to generate dialogue between citizens and academics or the people who work at the university.'' 

Meanwhile, Mg. Mauricio Cerda highlighted ''not only the presentations of the colleagues, but also at the end having seen the reception of the people. From what several people said, it seems that they found it very enjoyable, very attractive, it left them with reflections, they talked about having learned some things, no one wanted to leave, so I really think it met its objective.'' 

Just like the other exhibitors, the academic from the Department of Psychology hopes to repeat the experience. ''Forums, seminars could be organized in which there can be debate, in which there are University professors from different fields, defining a common topic that can be approached from different perspectives, I think that is where the main enrichment lies. Now things came out that touched on political, social, cultural, perhaps even economic issues, so topics could be sought that are also attractive to the community,'' he said.

The activity includes free workshops and talks that will offer the possibility of learning, in practice, what these alternatives are. There will be exhibitors who will be informing about a more natural way of living and the different products belonging to an ecological, ethical and sustainable trade network, where in addition to seeing, people will be able to buy some of the products exhibited. 

Among the activities will be the talk ''Encounter with Bach Flowers'', fair of healthy products, yoga class, Tai gymnastics class, workshop ''Tibetan bowls of 7 metals'', talk ''Introduction to Chinese medicine'' and workshop ''Natural and conscious parenting''. In addition, live music "Bossa Nova" will be presented on Friday the 16th and alumni musicians from the University of La Serena on Saturday the 17th. 

All activities are free entry, in order to show alternatives for body work and natural products that could become an informative family panorama. Tai Gymnastics: comes from Tai Chi and will be performed by Ignacio Saavedra, 2d° Dan Black Belt in Tai Chi. ''I have taken different elements to create a very healthy gymnastics that teaches people a very simple way to know a healthier way to occupy the body. Being able to recognize the tensions that the body has and in this way reduce them to know a greater state of well-being. This is through a series of movements and exercises that are very slow and gentle (...) allowing us to understand where the pressure is, where the tension is and how to release it in a natural way, that does not require greater effort,'' stated Saavedra. . 

Workshop ''Tibetan Bowls of 7 Metals'': guided by Mercedes Salas, Bioresonance therapist with Tibetan Bowls. The activity will be a practical demonstration of the healing power through Tibetan bowls. Attendees will be able to experience the effect they produce on their body, learn directly about harmonization, the so-called sonic massage, bioresonance and its effects on the chakras and the spine. 

Workshop ''Natural and Conscious Parenting'': will be told by teachers Georgette Sir and Nicolás Crisóstomo, both of whom are dedicated to accompaniment in Childcare. This workshop will show an introduction to sustainable, non-consumerist, affective and respectful parenting. Topics to be discussed: conscious pregnancy and natural childbirth; breastfeeding on demand; upbringing and carrying; co-sleeping; eco-friendly diapers and disposal communication; autonomous psychomotor development; and complementary feeding, guided by the baby.

The activity is focused on people who are starting out in the disciplines.

Registration is available at the Extension Center of the University of La Serena for the workshop ''Drawing and Painting'', which will be taught by the prominent visual artist Silvia Jeria and will take place from May 27 to May 28. August, on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 16:30 p.m. and 18:30 p.m., with a total of 48 chronological hours.

The workshop will offer students the possibility of having personalized classes according to the chosen technique, being able to choose between oil, acrylic or drawing, depending on their preferences. The space is for a maximum of 15 people and has a cost of $85.000 in total per person, or in two payments of $45.000 each. The workshop will be held at the institution's Extension Center, located at Prat 446, La Serena.

The exhibition of the artist Rocío Rojas Santibáñez (Rocío Salvador) will be open until May 19, who exhibits ''Sanación'', a selection of works that brings together intuitive painting, visionary art, and a mandala universe with fabrics and dream catchers.

The invitation is to visit this bet that becomes the first exhibition of the artist who graduated from the School of Design of the U. de La Serena. The inauguration was held in the midst of mixed feelings and colors that strongly reflect the pain and overcoming a difficult process that Rocío Salvador wanted to express, after the loss of her first child, an experience that according to her guided her path. as an artist. 

''I am very grateful to participate in this exhibition and also with the intention of showing that art helps a lot to overcome difficult moments (...)
