Anthem of the Coquimbo Region will be premiered at the 5th OSULS Season Concert

This great concert will be held on May 16, at 20:00 p.m., at the Municipal Theater of La Serena.

A great musical event will take place next Friday, May 16 in the regional capital, on which occasion the award ceremony for the contest ''An Anthem for the Coquimbo Region'' will be held, whose winning work, ''Qulquimpu'' , by the author Rodrigo Herrera Muñoz, will be premiered within the framework of the official Season Concert of the prominent regional group.
''Qulquimpu'' was considered a musical proposal of excellence both in lyrics and composition according to the jury of experts of the contest promoted by CORE and will be performed by the choir of the Allegro de La Serena academy and the Symphony Orchestra of the University of La Serena, which on this occasion will be directed by maestro Boris Alvarado.
As recently pointed out by the president of the Education and Culture Commission of the Regional Council, José Montoya, ''we have wanted through this contest to assemble what is the work of Peña Hen, which is the music and verses of Gabriela Mistral to through poetry and writing. Fortunately, the creators made an anthem that represents every corner of our region and as I have said on other occasions, the growth and development of the region not only occurs with iron and cement but also occurs with the spirit. , with the soul, with literature, with culture and creation.

Subsequently, the long-awaited concert of the 2014 season will take place, which on this occasion will have an attractive program that includes works such as 'L'Abbé regional anthem 2Agathon' by Arvo Pärt, the symphony "Heaven, Earth & Mankind" by the multifaceted Chinese artist Tan Dun and ''Mass for the children" by John Rutter, which constitutes an unmissable encounter for lovers of contemporary classical music. This concert will have the special participation of the Female Vocal Camerata of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso, also under the direction of Boris Alvarado, who has developed an outstanding career as a musician, academic and researcher.

His studies cover disciplines such as Counterpoint, Orchestration, Organology, Choral and Orchestral Conducting, Piano, Harmony, Analysis, History, Musical Audition, Theory and Music Theory, Philosophy, folklore, ethnomusicology, languages, electroacoustics, semiotics, philosophy, choral practice and Gregorian . Alvarado began his music studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Musical Sciences and Arts, with the Bachelor's Thesis "Vision of Expressionist Art" (1985). >
He has participated in the most important national seasons, making television programs for Channel 13 and Channel 4 UCV-TV. There are records of his work on several compact discs and press and radio articles in the form of reports, in specialized media dedicated to culture since 1980.


Currently, he has made important publications on Chilean music in Germany and Poland, all of which remain in the heritage archive of the National Library of Chile. Likewise, he was included among the 40 most relevant and influential composers in the history of composition in Chile.
