The tournament will be played in the cities of Arica, Antofagasta, La Serena, Valparaíso, Santiago, Talca, Concepción, Temuco, Valdivia, Puerto Montt and Punta Arenas. The grand final will take place at the Mall Sport in Santiago.

In May, the fifth version of the Taca Taca Limón Soda Universia 2016 National Championship will begin, which includes 11 qualifying stages that will be played at university venues in the main cities of the country. The first of them will take place on Tuesday, May 3, at the Saucache Campus of the University of Tarapacá (Av. 18 de Septiembre N° 2222, Arica).

Registration and play is on a first-come, first-served basis on the same day of the event and mixed or same-gender pairs can participate, with a requirement to be over 18 years of age. The tournament awards two 0 km cars to the team that achieves first place at the national level.

tacataca2The grand final will be held in Santiago on Saturday, June 11, at Mall Sport (Avda, Las Condes 13.451), where the pairs that have won the areas of Arica, Antofagasta, La Serena, Valparaíso, Metropolitan Region, Talca will be present. , Concepción, Temuco, Valdivia, Puerto Montt and Punta Arenas.

José Pedro Fuenzalida, general director of Universia, highlighted that “the championship has established itself as a meeting point for higher education students. Taca taca is a recreational activity that is very typical of university students, but it is also the same for Chileans in general. It has the peculiarity that everyone can play, with enthusiasm and joy.”

The championship is played in mixed or same-gender pairs, which participate in a maximum of 3 games. Each game lasts on average 5 minutes or until a team reaches 10 goals. At each venue the competition will be divided into two:

  • Qualifiers (11:00 a.m. to 16:00 p.m.). A ranking will be made according to the results obtained by each pair, with an average of games won and goal difference.
  • Local final octagonal (16:00 p.m. to 17:00 p.m.). At the end of the qualifying period, the first 8 pairs in the ranking will play in the final, which will define the zonal champion and who will represent the region in the grand final.

Awards

The winning pairs from each zone will receive a tablet for each member of the pair, medals, a month of free Limón Soda (5 six packs) and air and/or bus tickets to the final in Santiago.

For its part, the national champion team will receive two 0 KM cars, while the duo that occupies second place will receive two iPad Airs.

Emotional galas were experienced these last weekends, both the Folkloric Ensemble and the Tuna San Bartolomé of the U. de La Serena, which offered these events to the community, but accompanied by the deep emotion due to the absence of Professor Sixto Cortés, initiator of both musical groups and who died earlier this year.

In addition, he expressed his satisfaction "for achieving two events, one in the Plaza (de Armas of La Serena) and another in the Aula Magna of our University."

Regarding the summer season and the projection of both groups, Cortés maintained that, “we continue with activities in the summer, therefore we will continue to highlight the name of the University, the groups that I direct and the name of my father who was the one who started All this".

The squad marks hegemony in the ULS Soccer Championship, winning as champion for the fourth consecutive year.

The Mechanical Execution cast was once again crowned champion of the “Rodrigo Méndez López” Football Intercareers, defeating Civil Minas in the final by 5 goals 3, in an entertaining and dizzying match.

Both teams showed a good game, but it was the monarch who knew how to make use of the experience and hierarchy of his players to become champion for the fourth consecutive year, making history as one of the most winning teams in the tournament.

Meanwhile, third place was disputed by the Industrial Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering majors, with the latter being the one that achieved bronze.

At the awards ceremony, as is tradition, the family of Rodrigo Méndez López presented a cash prize ($180.000) to the champion of the traditional tournament.

Regarding statistics, the least beaten goalkeepers were Ignacio Ponce, for the miners, and Emilio Olivares Méndez, for the champion team. While the scorer of the contest was Emilio Fernández, from Civil Minas, with 13 goals.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Castillo, coordinator of the Department of Extracurricular Activities of the DGAE, valued what was presented by the students. “Both performances were massive, many people enjoying themselves and the boys were very happy with this participation and the staging of what had been prepared these last two years,” he concluded.

Circus magic returns to the University of La Serena. The Mining Circus will perform two performances this Friday, December 18.

The Mining Circus of the University of La Serena, about to celebrate 65 years of existence, announced two performances for this Friday, December 18, at the group's Amphitheater, located in Benavente s/n (in front of Placa Centro), where They will unveil the fruit of long days of rehearsals this year.

Cecilia González, student of Pedagogy in Basic General Education and secretary of the Mining Circus, specified that there will be top-level shows for the two performances on Friday, including “traditional numbers, clowns, hoops, fire, juggling, trapeze and some surprises.”

Likewise, Mauricio Castillo, coordinator of the Department of Extracurricular Activities of the DGAE, valued the Mining Circus as a relevant cultural heritage in the ULS. “It is one of the groups that generates the most ties with the environment, we receive many invitations from various places for the circus to perform, in fact this year they have performed in many places,” he concluded.

The ticket prices are 2 pesos for general admission, 500 pesos for ULS students, and 500 pesos for senior citizens and children. The only two performances will be on Friday at 19 and 22 p.m., respectively.
