The coach and the students are grateful for the management carried out by the Rector, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, for the renewal of the team's clothing, in view of the participation of the selected team in a new version of this championship.

Through the management of the Rector, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, the volleyball team of the University of La Serena renewed its sports clothing, which consists of 15 shirts and shorts with the institutional colors, to participate in the interregional championship of the discipline.

The championship takes place in the context of the national university games, a sports activity organized by the National Sports Institute.

Faced with this investment, the coach of the team, Carlos Ramos, stressed that this renewal is important for the team. "Thanks to this renewal, the team today has more comfortable uniforms for sports performance and during the championship the boys felt more confident when it came to presenting themselves against other teams," he said.

Positive was the evaluation made by the team coach regarding the participation of the students during this national volleyball championship, which was divided into 3 phases, 2 qualifying stages (intercommunal and interregional) and a national final stage.

According to this format, the team managed to overcome its opponents and win the first phase, qualifying and participating in the second stage of the championship, improving the results obtained in 2018.

In the interregional stage, there were 6 teams that participated, 2 from the Maule Region, 2 from the O'Higgins Region and 2 from the Coquimbo Region, who disputed the option of qualifying for the national phase.

“For the boys, this was a very good experience, at the university level we have few spaces where students can share with other peers who do the same activities. With this trip, the team was able to strengthen itself a lot and we hope to continue improving”, said the coach of the men's volleyball branch, Carlos Ramos, regarding the participation in this championship.

The activities were related to caring for the environment.

With a week full of activities, the 18th anniversary of Los Papayitos Garden, belonging to the Department of Student Welfare of the ULS General Directorate of Student Affairs, was celebrated.jardin2

The community intervention to promote care for nature was the activity that kicked off the anniversary celebrations, strengthening the bond between the garden and the surrounding community. Parents, guardians and children participated in this activity, and it consisted of cleaning the surroundings of the garden, placing posters alluding to the care of nature, in order to show the commitment that we must have to protect the world that we will leave for the following generations.

To show the artistic abilities of the infants together with their parents, the "Family Artistic Day" was organized where families shared creating paintings where they expressed their joy for the anniversary of their garden, demonstrating their creativity, which delivered moments of joy that were contagious. to everyone present.

As last year, Circo Minero from the University of La Serena accompanied the parade that paraded through the adjacent streets of the garden. The theme of the parade was nature and for that they prepared posters alluding to the care of the environment. This is one of the activities most anticipated by children since, together with their parents, they dress up to carry out this tour together with the joy that the circus delivers with its artists.jardin3

The anniversary party and the Children's Day celebration were the closing events of a special week for Jardín Los Papayitos. Inflatable games, animated show and a gathering marked an afternoon of joy for all those present.

It should be noted that the "Los Papayitos" Kindergarten and Nursery Room is a benefit for regular students that the University of La Serena grants for the care and education of their children, while they carry out their academic activities during their university life, reaching a current enrollment of 65 children.
