The "HIV, a meme you don't want to share" contest is part of a preventive campaign promoted by the Department of Student Health, belonging to the DGAE, which seeks to raise awareness among students, considering the high rates of contagion.

The contest invited University students to submit original works with the purpose of promoting HIV prevention.

The Coordinator of the Student Health Department, Dr. Sandra Sacre Mahnert, together with midwife Claudia Plaza Funes, were in charge of presenting the awards.

The winners of the contest were:

First Place: Felipe Pastén, Audit student.
Second Place: Cristian Ibacache, student of Pedagogy in Spanish and Philosophy.
Third Place: Diego Orellana, Construction Engineering student

The first place winner, Felipe Pastén, indicated that “it was a very good idea from the Department of Student Health, since it is important to create awareness about the self-care of students at the University. A poster can help to learn about the problem, but it is important to generate more national campaigns”.

Eduardo Castro, Mining Civil Engineering student
Pablo Núñez, nursing student
Francisca Concha, Psychology student
Kevin Flores, Audit student
Fabiola Zuleta, Nursing student

The midwife of the Student Health Department, Claudia Plaza, commented that “the evaluation is positive, we propose it as a job according to the vision of the students, since they are the ones who know the most direct way of how to communicate a concept or topic and that generate attention. We wanted them to create posters that would raise awareness and reflect on self-care. I was pleasantly surprised by the large turnout, the originality and quality of the work. “We are happy for the participation and proposals of the students, since these topics are of interest.”

The Student Health Department continues with HIV prevention campaigns, as well as other activities to support students in the day-to-day life of their university life.
