During the month of April, the 2024 season begins, which includes three instances with free entry and without prior registration: two concerts in La Serena and a territorial extension in the commune of Andacollo.

New musical invitation! In this month of April, the University of La Serena Symphony Orchestra invites the entire community of the Province of Elqui to be part of a new musical program. This is the First Concert of the Chamber Music Season; an intimate event starring the OSULS string and wind family, which will allow the public to enjoy an incredible repertoire and feel as comfortable as in their own home.

“Our chamber season is an opportunity for the audience to learn about and enjoy smaller formats where it is possible to appreciate the individual characteristics of the cast members. It is also important to highlight that these programs allow the repertoire to be expanded, programming works by composers who are not present in the official concert season; This is the case of our first chamber concert where we will have works by Max Reger and Johannes Brahms in a mix of string and woodwind instruments with important chamber repertoires for the flute and clarinet. We leave you invited to enjoy these activities in this training that is closer to the public,” explained the Artistic Director of the professional cast, Leonardo Godoy Sepúlveda.

The program that will open this concert cycle, called 'Entre Vientos y Cuerdas', will present the 'Serenade in G Major for flute, violin and viola; Op. 141' by Max Reger, performed by the musicians Gerardo Bluhm (traverse flute), Paulina Elgueta (violin) and Polyana Brehmer (viola); and the 'Quintet for clarinet and strings' in B Minor, Op.115, by Johannes Brahms, which will be performed by Erick Delgado (clarinet), Cecilia Olmos and Ramiro Álvarez (violin), Ricardo Muñoz (viola) and Iván Rivas ( cello).

The First Concert of the Chamber Music Season has three musical instances with free entry and no registration; starting next Thursday, April 11, at 11:00 a.m., with a rehearsal open to the general public in the Salón Mece of the Music Department of the University of La Serena (Larraín Alcalde #2843, La Serena); and later, at 19:30 p.m., appear at the Casa del Encuentro Ciudadano de Andacollo (Urmeneta #599). Later, on Friday, April 12, at 19:30 p.m., the OSULS wind and string ensemble will offer its gala concert at the Irma Salas Silva Central Library of the ULS (Anfión Muñoz #875).

The mayor of Andacollo, Gerald Cerda Pizarro, expressed his gratitude and satisfaction for this new concert that the professional cast will perform in the mining commune: “for us as an Andacollo community it is a tremendous success and we always wait with great expectation when we have the opportunity to receive to a cast like the Universidad de La Serena Symphony Orchestra (...) we are waiting and coordinating everything so that the neighbors can enjoy this concert in a very good way; So all my congratulations to the musicians who will visit us. Andacollo will be waiting for you with open arms.”
