Design, Translation, Kinesiology and Environmental Civil Engineering were also certified.

Auditing and Journalism are the first USerena courses to obtain 6 years of quality certification.

Design, meanwhile, obtained 4 years. On the other hand, Environmental Civil Engineering achieved 3 years (in replacement), Kinesiology 4 years (in replacement) and English-Spanish Translation 5 years. These three careers were submitted for the first time to an accreditation and/or certification process. All of them are added to Psychology, which had already obtained 5 years in 2022.

The Rector, Dr. Luperfina Rojas, stressed that “the certification process is of utmost importance for our institution, it gives us the tools to review our processes, detect our opportunities for improvement and work on them in a timely manner. “We want our seal to be that of academic excellence, both in our academics and in our programs and study plans.”

The institutional objective is for all undergraduate and graduate courses and programs to be certified or accredited, thus detecting opportunities for improvement to work on resolving them in a timely manner.

For this work, the Self-Evaluation Support Office provides permanent support in the collection and management of institutional information so that each career and program can focus on critical and reflective analysis, and subsequent preparation of their respective reports.

In this sense, Dr. Jonathan Hermosilla, in charge of said unit, highlighted that “all self-evaluation processes are for continuous improvement and allow the courses and programs to have a critical, reflective and constant internal look. This gives us the possibility to verify what we are doing and make corrections and adjustments in time to provide a quality educational service.”

Appreciations from the Race Directors

According to Mg. Cristian Muñoz, Director of the School of Journalism, obtaining 6 years of certification “represents the materialization of all the work carried out as a team during the period 2018 – 2022, of which we are very proud because it certifies that the standards with which the school works have "We have been growing, increasing and becoming more and more ambitious, providing answers to the learning and teaching needs of our students, but also supporting the connection with the environment, research and curricular management."

On the other hand, for the Director of the Audit career, Mg. Romina Galleguillos, "presenting ourselves for a certification and obtaining one more year than in the previous process means that we have known how to recognize our opportunities for improvement and work on them. It is a great pride to obtain this quality seal that guarantees our students certainty of belonging to a career where quality and academic excellence are reflected.”

The key to success

To share the experiences and results, the newly certified careers participated in the workshop “Learning from Self-Assessment Experiences, Another Step towards Quality.” In these instances, those programs that carry out a self-assessment process for the first time can learn from their peers, and learn details that will allow them to face their own certifications with greater preparation. The goal is for each degree program to face at least one process before institutional accreditation.
