U. de La Serena will celebrate its 43rd anniversary with a rich program of activities

The state campus of the Coquimbo Region commemorates a new year by training professionals of excellence, sharing knowledge with the community and contributing to regional and country development. 

The University of La Serena has various and important activities planned to celebrate its forty-third anniversary, which begin next March 20 with the inauguration of the Academic Year 2024 and Public Account of Institutional Management 2023; instance in which the Rector, Dr. Luperfina Rojas, will detail the achievements achieved by the state university during its first year of university government and the upcoming institutional challenges.

The Rector highlighted the institution's progress in terms of quality and the challenges for the coming years. One of which is the upcoming Institutional Accreditation process.

“To celebrate a new institutional anniversary, we have prepared a series of activities aimed at the entire ULS community and our citizens. One of them is the Institutional Public Account. In addition, there will be talks and conferences on topics of interest, the inauguration of new infrastructure and the delivery of recognition to the careers of officials and academics who have contributed for years to our University,” said Rector Rojas, who extended the invitation to participate.

Among the university spaces to be inaugurated are the Dentistry laboratories, School of Design and Departments of Physics, Chemistry and Agronomy; dependencies for Strengthening the ULS Institutional Model of Management and Quality Assurance; Accessible Route of the Limarí Campus (Ovalle) and teaching spaces of the Faculty of Social, Business and Legal Sciences.

Other activities of the anniversary program are the ceremonies for awarding distinctions to Officials Under Voluntary Retirement; the talk “Accreditation Criteria” by Dr. Andrés Bernasconi, president of the National Accreditation Commission (CNA); and the traditional ULS Anniversary concert by the Symphony Orchestra of the University of La Serena.

 

Mental health will also be addressed during the institutional anniversary with a day framed in the Quality of Life Program of the Department of People Development; In addition, the conference “Inclusion and Quality Assurance of the Educational System in Chile” will be held; the First Meeting of Regional Inclusive Practices, and the ceremony to deliver proof of participation in the 2023 Chilean Sign Language Course.

In addition, the signing of a collaboration agreement with the General Treasury of the Republic is contemplated, the Educational Innovation Seminar “InnovaEduca23”, the Fair “Weaving ULS Accompaniment Networks”, the commemoration of 60 years of Qualified Chemists, the Seminar “ Teaching Strengthening and Innovation Projects 2023”, the celebration of 31 years of the Nursing career, the exhibition “Teaching Innovation Projects in Architecture”, among other activities.
