A unique opportunity was what was experienced from January 15 to 18 at the FABLAB of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of La Serena, a place where more than 10 children and adolescents came to participate in the technological camp “Into the FablabVerse ”.

During these 4 days, participants were able to participate in free workshops around 3D printing, CNC Laser, basic Arduino and Augmented Reality, workshops that were led by professionals Ricardo Campos and Marcelo Chávez.

The "Into the FablabVerse" initiative not only focused on theory, but placed emphasis on practical experience, encouraging creativity and problem solving using the tools available in this maker techno-space.

According to Marcelo Chávez, "Into the FablabVerse was not only a camp, but a gateway to a universe of possibilities for these young people. The FABLAB of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of La Serena stands as a fundamental space for inspire and nurture emerging talent, thus contributing to the future of innovation and technology in our society.”

Nicolás Pérez thought it was a good activity to be able to expand his knowledge already acquired in the subject and that “what I liked most was the way in which the subject was given to you, where each professional cared about everyone in case they had not been understood something and that attention is pleasant.”

Another of the participants was Yorshua Marin, who along with his brother attended the 4 days of these workshops. On that occasion, he mentioned that “workshops like these help younger people have a better perspective on what careers to study. Being able to interact with these technologies available in the FABLAB, for those who like engineering, I find that it was a very good initiative.”

For his part, Ricardo Campos pointed out that “I am convinced that the knowledge acquired here will not only promote the personal growth of the participants, but will also positively influence the technological panorama of our country. The seed of change has been planted, and I am excited for the continued impact these young people will have on the digital world they are destined to shape.”

From FABLAB FIULS, they called to be attentive to their social networks, mainly on Instagram (@FablabFiuls), where they are constantly publishing workshops both for the university community and for those people in the Coquimbo Region who are interested in maker technologies.
