Regarding the positive employability results, the director of the Department of Education, Héctor Bugueño, explained the reasons why he believes such important results have been achieved: “This situation can be explained by the strengthening of Initial Teacher Training, through the implementation of a series of strategic guidelines aimed at impacting the quality of the training of our students. On the other hand, Basic General Pedagogy has also made important progress in the connection with the environment, a situation that has allowed us to better understand the reality of the social processes and needs that arise from the territories, promoting the social objectives of living and working together for the good common".

For his part, the director of the Civil Works Engineering Department, Jaime Campbell, highlighted the work carried out in the Civil Engineering degree during the professional training of its students and the market's appreciation of it. “It is a clear reflection of the effort made by the academic body to provide a good quality, rigorous education that leads students to challenge themselves in intellectual terms and at the same time, the department has permanently tried to provide the best possible means in terms of vocational training spaces. Our course and University maintain a tradition of rigorous and demanding training that is well valued by the environment and especially by the market,” indicated the director.

The Civil Engineer of the Nueva Atacama health company and graduate of the ULS, Paul Rivera, is an example of a student who found a job during his first year of graduation. According to what he said, they contacted him even before finishing his degree, which in his opinion was due to the fact that “they considered that he had a very good knowledge base.”

Regarding his experience during his time at the university, he highlighted the work focused on training and work with the community. “The different branches that they teach us help us delve deeper into the area in which we want to work as professionals. Choosing the health area allowed me to expand my knowledge in this line, providing a notion of what you can face at work and then, the most important thing is that the title report was focused on helping the community and having that contact with the community, it opened the doors for me to meet professionals, companies, which later helped me get a job,” he stated.
