With the signing of this extension of the agreement held by both institutions, they seek to strengthen the ties of cooperation regarding the assignment of professional training fields in careers in the health area, adding to the ULS Medicine career (soon to open).

In a ceremony held in the Raúl Bitrán hall of the ULS, which was headed by the Rector of the university, Dr. Luperfina Rojas, and which included the participation of different university and municipal authorities, the University of La Serena and the Gabriel González Videla Municipal Corporation signed an addendum to the current teacher assistance agreement maintained by both institutions.

It was the ULS Rector, Dr. Luperfina Rojas and the Secretary General of the Corporation, Jorge Díaz, who sealed their signature on this extension of the agreement, an instance where the Mayor of the Municipality of La Serena, Roberto Jacob, acted as minister of faith of its signature.

The addendum to the agreement seeks to strengthen and extend the work already carried out by the university in conjunction with the Municipal Corporation, focused on the assignment of clinical fields of professional and technical training to the careers of Nursing, Kinesiology, Dentistry and the new career of Medicine, and thus contribute to the development of new skills and resources to respond to the needs of the community.

Regarding the extension of this agreement, the ULS Rector, Dr. Luperfina Rojas, highlighted the importance of finalizing this signature, especially for the work focused on the new degree in Medicine. “Currently the University of La Serena is working on this emblematic project which is the creation of the Medicine degree and today, thanks to the support of different authorities, we have been able to move forward towards its completion. Thanks to the signing of this addendum to the agreement with the municipal corporation, we will be able to continue advancing in the training of future professionals in the health area with the seal of a state university, which is aimed at the benefit of our community,” indicated the Rector.

For his part, the General Secretary of the Gabriel González Videla Municipal Corporation of La Serena, Jorge Díaz, referred to the importance of maintaining this work agreement with the university, adding that “it is a pleasure to be able to sign this agreement that will allow us to continue working collaboratively with the University of La Serena and I congratulate them for the important work they do in training professionals, as well as for the prompt incorporation of the Medicine career, and in this context, as a corporation we are happy to be able to contribute with this new and important career.”
