The InES Gender-ULS Team manages to socialize the project in 84% of the Department and Faculties Cloisters

During the course of the year, the directors of the InES Gender ULS project held meetings with 21 of the 25 instances of Department Cloisters and Faculty Councils, including the Multidisciplinary Research and Postgraduate Institute of the University of La Serena.

The socialization process started in January 2023 and developed throughout this year, managed to present 16 of the 21 Department Cloisters, including the Multidisciplinary Institute, added to the 4 Faculty Councils, completing a total of 25 socialization instances where a total of 256 academics from the university's faculty participated.

This process aimed to disseminate and inform the academic community about this institutional strengthening project and invite them to participate in its initiatives. In these meetings, the InES Género team, through its directors, Dr. María Lourdes Campos and Dr. Vilbett Briones, presented the objectives of the project, as well as relevant data on the gender gaps present in the institution and the challenges for the future. .

Among the faculty that agreed to table the presentation of the InES Gender Project are: Department of Nursing, Department of Physics, Department of Chemistry, Department of Astronomy, Department of Mathematics, Department of Economics and Business Sciences, Department of Social Sciences, Department of Education, Department of Music, Department of Psychology, Department of Architecture, Department of Industrial Engineering, Department of Mining Engineering, Department of Food Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Civil Works Engineering and Multidisciplinary Research and Postgraduate Institute ,  and on the Faculty Councils of the faculties of Sciences, Humanities, Engineering and Social, Business and Legal Sciences.

“Building consensus and transferring sensitivities to ULS authorities, managers and academics that favor the commitment to the challenges of gender equality, is one of the planned activities that is related to the objective of developing institutional capacities, in order to implement actions to reduce gender gaps in the areas of research, development, technology transfer, innovation and scientific-technological entrepreneurship at the University of La Serena. It is relevant to move forward in implementing initiatives and actions within the ULS that ensure the access, development and leadership of women in the CTCI system, and promote gender equality in the field of scientifically based R&D&I&E. technological”, they specify from the project team.

The Innovation in Higher Education (InES) Gender initiative is promoted by the Ministry of Science and the National Research and Development Agency (ANID), in which 13 state and private universities from across the country participate.
