ULS Ambassadors: students represent the University of La Serena in different spaces

This is an initiative formed by the General Directorate of Student Affairs, where a group of students actively participates in various activities that help the comprehensive development of the student community.

This instance has been implemented since the second semester of this academic year and is made up of students from the careers of Law, Civil Engineering, Environmental Civil Engineering, Industrial Civil Engineering, Pedagogy in Early Childhood Education, Pedagogy in Spanish and Philosophy and Journalism, who attend activities of the University of La Serena and the local community, with the purpose of representing the ULS, generating closeness and collaborating with different actions that help the social, personal and professional development of the students of the university.

The General Director of Student Affairs, Alan Olivares Gallardo, pointed out that “it was important that this team be made up of students from the different faculties, as academically heterogeneous as possible, so we could cover the offer of our university and over time each of They could provide reliable information on all races. The main objective of this initiative is to present and/or promote the things we do and have, and that has been achieved 100% with communication from student to student, who are the ones who live day to day in our university."

Communication between peers is essential to obtain more optimal and viable results between the young population and the university entity. This is why the ULS Ambassadors team is made up mainly of its own students and led by a team of professionals who guide them in the activities they must carry out in different spaces in the area.

Katalina Campillay Kong, a Civil Engineering student, expressed that “being a ULS Ambassador has been an enriching opportunity, where I have established new connections, acquired new knowledge and contributed to my university from another perspective. It has had a positive impact on my personal and professional growth, increasing my effective communication skills and teamwork.”

Through these participations they have collaborated in different events such as beach and wetland cleaning, visit of the Minister of Education Nicolás Cataldo, Science Day, mobile clean point, ULS Expo, regional launch of HIV Autotest and visits to educational facilities inside and outside of the region, where its main task is to inform, show and provide a view from and for students about the academic offer, experiences and knowledge provided by each degree program at the University of La Serena.

The student of the Journalism degree, Camila Neira, commented that “it has been enriching to show in the different instances the benefits that our school provides to the classmates, validating their credibility as a user, giving greater closeness to the other students and to future Ulseanos colleagues, who are often unaware of the comprehensive support provided by the University of La Serena.”
