In the constant search for safe and healthy work environments, the Joint Hygiene and Safety Committees play a fundamental role in promoting practices and policies to safeguard the integrity of their officials. This was evident during the V Mutual Security Certification Ceremony C.Ch.C Joint Committees 2023 held at the University of La Serena and in which Higher Education Institutions, schools, clinics and health facilities and institutions in the field were recognized. private.

To recognize and reward the efforts of these entities, the Mutual de Seguridad C.CH.C has established certifications at three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold, which are obtained by complying with rigorous standards. Brince, which reinforces the initial commitment; Silver, which indicates a more advanced level in prevention; and Gold, which indicates Excellence in Occupational Safety and Health.

The ceremony took place in the Aula Magna of the University of La Serena and on behalf of the Rector, Dr. Luperfina Rojas, the President of the Honorable Board of Directors, Ernesto Velasco, attended, who welcomed and began the certification ceremony. . Also attending were the Vice-Rector for Economic and Administrative Affairs, Dr. Héctor Cuevas, the Rector of the Universidad Santo Tomás, La Serena headquarters, Pablo Pinto, the Manager of the Mutual de Seguridad Agency, Arturo Díaz, the Director of Human Resources ULS, Miguel Sánchez, and representatives of the joint committees, among other authorities.

The V Mutual Security Certification Ceremony C.Ch.C Joint Committees 2023 certified on this occasion more than 100 entities from the Coquimbo Region. Among the Joint Hygiene and Safety Committees that received their certification, were the 3 committees of the ULS: the Central Joint Committee, the Joint Dentistry Committee and the Casino Joint Committee, which received the highest distinction, that is, Gold Certification.

The President of the ULS Board of Directors, Ernesto Velasco, wanted to highlight that the University of La Serena, in strategic alliance with other universities and with the Mutual de Seguridad together with the Illustrious Municipality of La Serena, have managed to advance in a committee process joint efforts to prevent risks, improve the work environment and the productivity of the different institutions. “This points to a more inclusive society and the ULS, as a state entity, cannot be oblivious to this,” he said, along with appreciating that the 3 joint committees of the ULS were certified in the Gold category. “There is certainly a lot to follow.” doing, but it is a very significant advance that the ULS leads an event of this category that attracted more than 580 people, representing different institutions of the Coquimbo Region, speaking very well of the connection with the ULS environment towards public policies as relevant as prevention, work environment and improving the productivity of regional companies,” he noted.

Likewise, the Director of Human Resources ULS, Miguel Sánchez, indicated that “we are very happy that this recognition ceremony was held again for the workers of the joint committees present today, even more so because our 3 joint committees received certification in maximum degree. We have been working hard and with the support of each of the officials that make up each of our joint committees, to achieve this Gold. We hope it will last for a long time.”

The Agency Manager of Mutual de Seguridad C.CH.C, Arturo Díaz, highlighted the managerial commitment of the different companies, schools and higher education institutions present, in matters of safety and health. “highlight company managers and directors of educational institutions for accompanying their respective joint committees and supporting them in the adoption of policies and actions that make each work environment a safe place.”

Mónica Galleguillos, secretary of the Joint Committee of the Santa Cecilia School in Coquimbo, said: “we obtained the Gold certification and it was a great surprise because it was an award they gave us for the work done during the year together with the mutual advisor, with "We work very hard to advance in security matters and share those advances with the educational community."

On the other hand, the President of the ULS Central Joint Committee, Juan Madariaga, referred to the advances and matters of prevention and safety, stating that "since our last certification, we have made significant advances to strengthen the culture of prevention and safety in all of our work spaces. This recent achievement of Gold Category Certification is a testament to the constant effort by our Joint Committee teams, demonstrating comprehensive compliance with standards and a renewed commitment to safety and well-being.”

Furthermore, he added that “this certification represents a double benefit for our institution: firstly, it consolidates and strengthens the structure of our Joint Committees of Dentistry, Casino and Central, promoting greater participation and care of all those involved in our university community. On the other hand, at an institutional level, we reaffirm our commitment as an entity dedicated to excellence in workplace safety, which translates directly into safer and healthier environments to work in.”

Finally, he mentioned the type of certification that the 3 committees received: “the Gold Category Certification reflects total compliance with the 40 rigorous requirements established at the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, endorsed by Mutual de Seguridad. This achievement is the result of the collective effort and tireless commitment of our teams, which drives us to continue prioritizing the safety and well-being of our university community.”
