During the last few months it has been the winner in different competitions at the regional level.

Antonia Escobar Escobar, a Design student at the University of La Serena, is an outstanding Mountain Bike athlete, a discipline that has led her to participate and win places in different competitions in the Coquimbo Region. Her desire is to form a community at the university to practice this sport recreationally in different places in the conurbation.

In November 2019, Antonia received her first bicycle to do mountain biking in her home community, Ovalle. The feeling of freedom and being able to go wherever she wanted and at any time she wanted on her bicycle was what caught her attention the most about this sport. With this freedom, she began to recreationally tour the surroundings of Limarí in the company of her family. Towns like Tamaya, Potrerillos, Canelilla and Sotaquí were the beginnings of it.

In 2022 he formalized the start of his career as an athlete by participating in at least 12 competitions in the area, of which he has won at least some place on the podium in each participation. His last competition was on November 12 in the commune of Huamalata, where he obtained first place in the 30 km route.

With the aim of creating a recreation space at the university and promoting sport in the university community, Antonia indicated: “I would like a mountain bike group to be formed at the university in a formal way, but at the same time it is recreational. , because although one is going to compete and hope to get a podium, the idea is always to have fun and get the most out of sharing with the community. If this were to be implemented at the university it would be very nice because in part sports would be promoted and a community would be created.”
