In its new version, the Permanent Academic Conference on Accounting Research will be held for the first time in virtual mode, between November 18 and 20, 2020.

Under the motto “Social responsibility and sustainable development reporting: The relevance of financial, social and environmental accounting”, the University of La Serena is preparing to hold the XXXI edition of the Permanent Academic Conference on Accounting Research (CAPIC), scientific society founded in 1990, made up of universities and higher education institutions belonging to the Council of Rectors and created with the purpose of promoting the development of accounting through research.

In a year marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization of this meeting that brings together academics and students from different houses of study at the national and international level, has decided that this new version of CAPIC will be held through online mode between on November 18 and 20, 2020.

Faced with the important responsibility of carrying out the organization of CAPIC, the Dean of the Faculty of Social, Business and Legal Sciences ULS, Dr. Luperfina Rojas, indicated that “as a Faculty, it is very relevant for us to hold this Congress again that we have already had the honor of carrying out on two previous occasions with an important participation of academics and researchers. However, this year CAPIC 2020 will have international characteristics, which gives it even more emphasis.”

The Dean adds that "the contingency has forced us to carry out this event in virtual mode, which will be a great challenge, which motivates us to transform this event into a space for the generation and dissemination of scientific knowledge in the areas of accounting and related disciplines, being another example of the work that the School of Auditing, the Department of Economic Sciences and our Faculty have developed.”

Likewise, he maintained that "as an organization we are attentive to the details and we hope to have a great participation of academics and researchers, national and international, who, with the delivery of their experiences, will allow us to continue advancing in issues of research, teaching and links with the environment associated with generating networks to enhance our work.”

For her part, the Director of the ULS Audit School, Mg. Patricia Cortés referred to the challenge of being the ones organizing this edition of the event. “Taking over the organization of this 2020 version implies giving continuity to a Congress that has remained in force for 30 years, keeping in mind that the purpose of CAPIC is to promote the development of research in accounting and related disciplines, disseminate the results of the research work, contributing in this way to the constant updating of knowledge, as well as to maintaining the spirit that characterizes the Permanent Academic Conference on Accounting Research.”

It should be remembered that the deadline for receiving works that wish to be exhibited in this version of CAPIC is Friday, July 31. For more information about the registration process, important dates, among other topics, you can visit their website http://capic.userena.cl/
