Registration is now open for this course which, in 8 sessions, guides the learner through the basic concepts of astronomical tourism.

Tourism is an essential part of different locations around the world; However, in very few of them you can do astronomical tourism. The sky is very important when establishing this type of undertaking, which depends on the quality with which we can observe the sky.

But it's not all about looking at the sky. And an important part of the experience has to do with the feelings that are evoked, the bodily sensations and the complete experience that the tourist takes away. For this reason, the University of La Serena, within the framework of the Univrso project, offers the course “General Topics of Astronomy for Tourism” free of charge, aimed at tourism operators as a way to support them in these complex times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With this course, participants will be able to learn how to adapt their spaces to receive tourists, contemplating the atmosphere, smells, colors, flavors and textures, playing with the thematic setting. Additionally, a night photography module is included in the course, which can be very useful as complementary knowledge, especially because it deals with photographic bases applied to the night sky.
