“Winter Conversations” will seek to become a space for reflection on design work in a field that goes beyond the conventional.

With the idea of ​​generating distance dialogue activities to provide other training spaces for students, the School of Design of the University of La Serena will carry out the “Winter Conversations” activity, instances that will allow specialists to share their vision regarding topics. of social interest, given the new scenario that emerged from the pandemic.

The idea is to dialogue regarding the evolution of design thinking, applied to the design of integrated systems, beyond the field of the conventional design profession.

The first conversation will precisely address “Comprehensive design for regenerative development” and will feature the participation of Grifen Hope, a Latin American leader in teaching permaculture and regenerative design.

For the host of these meetings, the academic Marco Gutiérrez, the conversations will address issues of a transdisciplinary nature. “Due to a profound systemic or civilizational crisis (of which the pandemic is a temporary expression), it is urgent to co-create new forms of social coexistence, economies, uses of the territory, health, etc., an emerging model To address this challenge is regenerative design, which is now projected to regenerative development, which aims to create systems that not only reduce damage to ecosystems and human communities, but also regenerate their health, fertility, diversity, etc. Something that ecosystems and living systems know how to do.”
