The researchers and professors present had the opportunity to talk about topics relevant to science and establish its own principles.

The Citizen Science meeting was held in the Sustainable Room B1, organized by the Foundation that bears the same name, together with academics from the Department of Biology of the University of La Serena, making it clear that joint work benefits both researchers and to students of the study house.

The purpose of the meeting was to establish principles of citizen science for projects linked to the environment, constituting lines of work in these aspects that are so important for the connection with the community and identifying experiences addressed by professionals.

For the executive director of the Citizen Science Foundation, Sebastián Escobar, this project has been carried out very quickly and satisfactorily, “in a period of three months we were in Valdivia, Santiago and now we are completing our meetings in La Serena, compiling all the information to generate this manual that will serve as a guide and mapping of citizen science projects, thus encouraging those interested in doing this type of science, finding peers who have already worked on these aspects and promoting the activity (...). We thank the University of La Serena for bringing together people from many institutions in this place, and we also highlight the work of the Coordinator of the Biology and Natural Sciences degree, since we came here to learn about the microscopy image repository project, which "It can have repercussions at the regional and country level, which would be leading in this type of projects in Chile," he assured.

Likewise, the Coordinator of the Pedagogy degree in Biology and Natural Sciences ULS, Mg. Francisco López thanked those present for their participation and pointed out that the activity with the Citizen Science team “allowed us to publicize some technological developments and scientific linkage actions that are currently being carried out in the Department of Biology, which have “a high potential for collaboration with citizens, both at the regional and national levels.”
