The ULS, through its Department of Industrial Engineering, was the host institution for the last meeting of the year.

In the premises of the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of La Serena, the last session of 2017 of the Network of Industrial Engineers of the Northern Universities, INDUNOR, was held.

Although the Network aims to strengthen ties between the members of the Industrial Engineering Departments of the universities in the north of the country and generate proposals for joint improvement of both the undergraduate degree and joint engineering, research and support work in postgraduate degree, this meeting focused fundamentally on the preparation of the activities necessary for the success of the Third Congress of Industrial Engineering, which will be held on August 22, 23 and 24, 2018 at the University of Antofagasta.

At the meeting, chaired by the University of Antofagasta academic, Monique Olmos, the central theme of the Congress was defined: “Innovation and Sustainable Energy.”

The Director of the Department of Industrial Engineering of the ULS, Msc. Oscar Contreras, who acted as host, highlighted the importance of this event. “These conferences bring together researchers and academics from the different universities that make up the consortium, who exchange experiences and knowledge in the field of the specialty, as well as in engineering teaching,” he said.

On the other hand, the academic added that "in this Congress, as in previous years, there will be the participation of international speakers, professionals who will present the advances in the different areas of knowledge of the profession, of vital importance for our students".

The INDUNOR Network has arranged for 10 students from each of the Network's universities to participate free of charge in the Congress, which constitutes an important step towards student integration and mobility in the northern zone.
