With a concert marked by 'Joy & Jubilee', the University of La Serena Symphony Orchestra He offered his successful first concert of the 2019 season before a packed hall. The long-awaited presentation featured the audacity of two world-renowned figures, who put the finishing touch to a new anniversary of the ULS.

For the Rector, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés Pizarro, “both the orchestra and its guest artists have offered a wonderful show to the community. I believe that these celebrations of the University of La Serena on its thirty-eighth anniversary have closed with a golden seal. We have seen the interpretations of some very beautiful pieces of music and this, once again, reaffirms to us that as a University we are fulfilling our role, which is to deliver culture and promote arts and music, as an important milestone in our development."

joy jubilation orchestra uls 2The first concert of the artistic-musical program called 'A journey through emotions', was directed by the bold Swiss conductor, Nicolas Rauss, who conducted an important selection of classic works. The concert began and culminated with the works of the Austrian, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who manifests his jubilant spirit through the Overture of the Bufa Opera 'Cosi fan tutte' ('The School of Lovers') and the Symphony No. 31, K 385, called 'Paris', due to the place where it was premiered in 1778. Likewise, the 'Suite for small orchestra' by the national composer and National Music Prize Winner (1948), Enrique Soro, was presented.

For his part, the Serenense soloist, Cristóbal Rojas Salinas, who is currently triumphing in Argentina with the Mendoza Philharmonic Orchestra, delighted the public with the 'Trumpet Concerto in E flat major' by Joseph Haydn, a pillar in the concert repertoire for the instrument due to the innovation of the time. After the opening, the concert artist stated that he was “just as the concert says: with joy and jubilation, I am very happy to have shown my work after so many years and to present this concert before a very captive audience, in which my friend was also present.” family and friends.
