The beautiful landscapes of Valdivia come to La Serena

The “Pinacoteca de Valdivia” exhibition will be inaugurated as part of the 38th anniversary of the University of La Serena.

Various works from the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Valdivia make up the sampleValdivia Art Gallery”, which will be open to the community from March 19 to April 12 in the Exhibition Hall of the University of La Serena.

This selection of works is part of the permanent exhibition of the “Valdivia and its River” painting contest, organized by the Municipal Cultural Corporation of Valdivia, which has as its theme the free interpretation of the natural or cultural landscape, both urban and rural, of the city of Valdivia.

The techniques used are varied and range from oil, acrylic, latex, tempera, watercolor, pastel and collage, to mixed techniques. Additionally, as part of the collection, six engravings by the prominent visual artist Germán Arestizábal will be exhibited, who has carried out copious visual production in graphic expressions, illustrations and engraving, in addition to constant work in university teaching.

The free entry exhibition will open this Tuesday, March 19 at 12:00 p.m. and is part of the 38th institutional anniversary. The public can visit it from Monday to Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m., and from 14:30 p.m. to 18:30 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. and from 14:30 p.m. to 17:30 p.m. in the Exhibition Hall located at Benavente 950, La Serena.

The person in charge of Culture of the Directorate of Linkage with the Environment and ULS ExtensionFernando Tapia, highlighted that this “is an opportunity to see works by different artists, emerging and established, gathered in an exhibition, and demonstrates the relevance of our Exhibition Hall as a space for exploration and appreciation of the visual arts, a venue that is open to citizens, maintaining the spirit of extension that the University of La Serena projects to the community.”
