Later, at 20:00 p.m., at the Municipal Theater of La Serena, the Mismar Cultural Association will put the finishing touch with Concert No. 4: 'Symphonic Works', by the University of La Serena Symphony Orchestra and the Ensemble Member of the same house of higher education, directed by the prominent Chilean tenor Gonzalo Tomckwiack. The talented musicians will be under the baton of the young Chilean maestro, Miguel Ángel Castro Reveco, who will dazzle attendees with a powerful musical program consisting of six diverse works. The concert will open with 'Tonada' (e. III), and then perform the 'Suite for Strings' (c. XII) and its three movements: 1st Allegro, 2nd Pavana and 3rd Tempo from Cake-Walk, and the famous pieces with choral ensembles: 'Christmas Altarpieces' and 'Chanson d' Automne'; to later culminate with 'Two pieces in concert' and the performance of the overture of the children's opera “Cinderella”.

According to the words of the executive secretary of the La Serena Regional Symphony Orchestra Foundation, Rodrigo Díaz Cuevas, the participation of the professional orchestra of the Coquimbo Region “in this notable Festival in tribute and rescue of the pedagogical and musical work of Jorge Peña Hen , in its broadest sense, it is very pertinent for us to rescue his work and keep his figure in memory, it is a dignifying political-cultural act. It dignifies the community that takes and will take knowledge of his work, since it sought human development in our country in an equitable manner. What Peña Hen envisioned since his university youth is today becoming a reality through the multiple schools throughout the country that have opened their educational doors to orchestral teaching and practice. “He broke with academic prejudices so that many teachers and managers worked to create a broad socio-musical base from childhood,” he deepened.

I think it will be a very emotional moment for all of us who are close to the maestro's work, and we are also very excited to work with a young and talented director like Miguel Ángel Castro.”

For his part, the director in charge of closing this sublime tribute to the illustrious son of La Serena, indicated that “it is always an honor to participate with professional casts, the orchestra and the vocal ensemble have a lot of experience and everything will surely sound very good.” . I am very happy to participate in this closure, I am also with some expectation and anxiety since it is a well-compressed job in a very short time.” Likewise, Miguel Ángel Castro Reveco added that the final program includes two choral works by Jorge Peña Hen: “The 'Christmas Altarpieces' and 'The Autumn Song' ('Chanson d' Automne'), and these require a body vocal, of a mixed choir, and what better than to collaborate with a stable ensemble from the region to integrate these two casts and be able to revive these works by the maestro," said the national guest director.

It should be noted that the realization of the 'Jorge Peña Hen Musical Festival: A tribute to the maestro' is a project designed and carried out by the Mismar Cultural Association, financed through the 2018 Music Funds of the Ministry of Cultures, the Arts and Heritage.
