String ensemble offers chamber concert in two new cities in the Province of Elqui

The musical event promises an exciting journey through the European continent, led by magnificent composers from the classical and romantic period.

Continuing with the successful and captivating season of 'The Symphony of Cultures', the ensemble belonging to the Network of Professional Regional Orchestras of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage is preparing two unmissable concert dates for the month of June. A cultural instance that seeks to bring learned music to other territories, transporting the inhabitants of the commune of La Higuera and La Serena to the magic and sound of the European continent.

This is the II Chamber Season Concert that will feature the string ensemble of the Universidad de La Serena Symphony Orchestra, and in this instance the musical journey will be led by the performers Leonardo Godoy, Juan Pablo Luengo and Daniel Navea (violins), Lorenzo Cabello and Poliana Brehmer (viola), Monserrat Trujillo (violoncello) and Manuel Figueroa (double bass).

string assembly2The journey begins in Austria, with the help of violinist Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf, with his piece 'Duetto for viola and double bass, kr.2019'; passing through the Czech Republic, with one of its most famous composers, the nationalist musician Antonín Dvořák, with his work 'Terzetto Op.74 in C Major for two violins and viola'; to later culminate the concert with the 'Quartet Op.18 No. 4 in C Minor' by the German genius Ludwig van Beethoven.

The opening of this series of chamber concerts will take place in the rural commune of La Higuera with the territorial extension concert, next Thursday, June 14 at 20:00 p.m. at the Municipal Theater of the city (Avenida La Paz N° 2). The event is free of charge, without withdrawal of invitations, and will be possible thanks to the management and collaboration of said municipality, through its Culture Office and Mayor Yerko Galleguillos Ossandón.

In the words of the mayor of La Higuera, this musical event is highly valued by the community: “from a cultural point of view, it is very important that presentations of this nature reach our commune. La Higuera is an eminently rural area, with few resources, and access to free and artistic activities so outstanding at the regional level does not occur every day. Under my administration, this is the second time that the University of La Serena Symphony Orchestra performs in La Higuera; That is why we thank you for your presence and we invite all the neighbors, adults and children, to attend the public theater of our commune,” he said.

string assembly3After the presentation in La Higuera, the performers will travel to the regional capital to replicate this fascinating program at the Municipal Theater of La Serena, on Friday, June 15 at 20:00 p.m. Those who wish to enjoy this musical event may pick up one of the 120 tickets available at the following locations: La Serena Municipal Theater (Benavente #580), La Serena Public Library (Colón #495, Balmaceda corner) and/or at the Regional Library Gabriela Mistral (Juan José Latorre #782) for the general public and older adults. While school students and those of the University of La Serena can go to the extension office of the ULS Music Department (Larraín Alcalde s/n, between Los Jardines and Seminario). Those who are unable to withdraw their invitation will be able to purchase tickets at the municipal venue box office on the same day of the event, with prices that fluctuate between $3.000 for the general public and $2.000 for seniors, while school students and students from the University of La Serena, presenting your credential.

It should be noted that this presentation responds to the 2018 season and its program called 'The Symphony of Cultures', which is developed thanks to the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, from whom it receives part of its financing by Glosa de National Budget since 2016; in addition to the support provided by the University of La Serena, the Illustrious Municipality of La Serena, through its Department of Culture and the Municipal Theater, and the Municipality of La Higuera.
