The Raúl Bitrán Nachary Chair was inaugurated on May 2, 1996 and created in memory and tribute to the eminent academic, businessman and professional Raúl Bitrán Nachary, who died in 1986. Regarding the Chair and the topic, the Director of DIVEULS, Dr. Catalina Cvitanic, commented that “the advances in science and technology amaze us at every moment because they make our daily lives easier and allow us to access knowledge that was unthinkable a few years ago.” decades ago; However, they bring with them a hidden side that we cannot ignore and that is the border between what is ethical, what is socially accepted and our own beliefs. These themes are what we will try to reveal and analyze at the Raúl Bitrán 2017 Chair, where we are aiming to develop the theme using cutting-edge technology with select guests in a large capacity space, such as the Aula Magna of our University."

The conferences will be held on Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. and in the next few dates the topics will be discussed: “The new era of astronomy: from photons to petabytes”, “Synchrony between brains: A neurophysiological marker of teaching-learning dynamics in the classroom?”, “Biodiversity: our common future?”, “The five benefits of Teleworking” and “Myths and truths of genetic modification in plants, from classical genetics to CRISPR/Cas9”.
