mathemagicThe University of La Serena, on the occasion of the celebration of its 33rd anniversary, has prepared a wide range of activities to offer the community during the coming days. Among them is the Play ''Mathematical Stories to the Cube'', which seeks to promote the interest of boys and girls in learning about mathematics in a playful and attractive way.

The play, performed by the theatrical cast of the ULS Extension Directorate (ETEULS) and directed by Dr. Catalina Cvitanic and Ignacio Cáceres, was prepared for months and will be presented free of charge to the entire community of La Serena on Thursday, March 3. April starting at 19:00 p.m. in the Aula Magna of the Ignacio Domeyko Campus, located at 980 Benavente Street in La Serena.

The activity is made up of three mini works: ''In networks with Polígona'', ''Zero stress'' and ''The Death of 8'', which are designed for children from 9 years old and in which Different aspects of mathematics are addressed, with metaphors and dynamics that seek to re-enchant the little ones with this discipline. The idea is to have a pleasant time with the family, with an activity that mixes art and knowledge available to everyone.

This work represents a new way of approaching the teaching of mathematics, since in addition to presenting it in an entertaining way for the public, it represents a source of new ideas so that teachers can carry out their classes in the classroom.

For the director of the cast, Dr. Catalina Cvitanic, this is a very good way to reevaluate the subject. ''We must eradicate the myth that mathematics is complicated and unattainable, ensure that parents understand and encourage students to value mathematics as a useful tool in our daily lives,'' she stated.
