The exhibition has a special invitation for the public to title the works.

expo2The invitation is to attend the ULS Exhibition Hall free of charge and be part of this third exhibition of the 2019 cycle, organized by the Directorate of Liaison with the Environment and Extension.

In this regard, the academic and artist, Hernán Godoy highlighted that “this selection of 2018-2019 works has a character of popular cultural transmission and in a certain way heritage. I established 3 points based on the name: one in the Elqui valley where the muleteers and ranchers raised goats or could get guanaco meat for charqui, the leftover bones were preserved in salt in some drawers and were called salons. For the winter season, the bone became a food supplement when there was no longer fresh or dried meat.”

Furthermore, in relation to the two remaining points, the academic added that "while the culture of the port, the people of Buenos Aires in the butcher shops of horses or beef from the vertical saw cuts for cazuela and all that type of material preserved the matter to sell it for dogs, but it could also be converted through a sieve into soup and became human food, that is another common thread; and in plastic culture, since I am an academic and I make artistic creation linked to expressionism, linked to painting and also in some showcases that are with intervention of ceramic low relief for me it becomes a food, but to continue strongly creating my work artistic".

The exhibition will be open to the public from Monday to Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m., 14:30 p.m. to 18:30 p.m. and Friday 10:00 a.m.-13:00 p.m., 14:30 p.m.-16:30 p.m. in the Exhibition Hall, located at Benavente 950 La Serena.

camera2Pedro Cortés, a resident of the Elquina commune, came to the Immaculate Conception Parish to witness the first territorial extension concert: “It was a tremendous pleasure to have listened and taken advantage of this opportunity to see the bronze ensemble mixed with percussion. One more opportunity for Vicuña to have the Universidad de La Serena Symphony Orchestra present; So very good, grateful to the Municipality because through the agreement they develop with the orchestra, they allow professional musicians to access and deliver these concerts to us,” he noted.

The mayor of Vicuña, Rafael Vera, referred to this cooperation agreement and the opportunity for neighbors to once again enjoy the work of the regional orchestra: “We are very happy because it is now common to have their presence here. We always create the conditions because we believe that culture is very important for the development of all of us and people enjoy it. We believe that we give Vicuña another cultural space to enjoy; That is why we make every effort so that every year the University of La Serena Symphony Orchestra, through its chamber groups, can visit us year after year,” stressed the communal authority.

Subsequently, the musicians Sergio Fuentes and Cristian Monreal (trumpets), Gerson Pierotti (horn), Daniel Carmona (trombone), Francisco Cárceles (tuba) and Pablo Pallero (percussion) traveled to the Aula Magna of the Ignacio Domeyko Campus of the ULS to replicate the works: 'Brass Quintet N°1', OP. 73 (1961) by the great British composer Malcolm Arnold, 'Blues for Gilbert' for vibraphone by Mark Glenworth, 'Dialogue pour deux trompettes' by Eugène Bozza, 'Horn Vibes - three duos for horn and vibraphone' by composer Verne Reynolds and 'Quintet N°3', Op. 7 in d flat major by the Russian maestro Victor Ewald.

camera3Fabiola Martínez, who attended the second night of the chamber music concert, indicated that “I really liked this program for brass instruments and vibraphone. I don't know much about the works and their composers, but it turned out to be a very harmonious and well-selected repertoire for a venue like this, where the orchestra can be heard very well. In addition, the musicians were kind enough to explain each of the works, providing a necessary context to what we heard.”

Finally, for Paulina Mella, the presentation “seemed very nice to me, different because I had never heard the works before. I frequently come to see the orchestra's concerts, but I had never come in this more intimate format. A great experience".
