Both the women's and men's soccer teams of the University of La Serena had an unpleasant qualifying round, since both could not compete against their counterparts from the University of Atacama and were left out of the FENAUDE National Tournament, where the 16 best university teams from Chili.

The women's team lost both games. In the Atacama Region they fell by 2 goals to 0, so they had to win by the same number of goals to force overtime; but no, in La Serena the score was repeated in favor of the UDA representatives and they were left out of the national competition.
