From November 1 to 6, the National Men's University Football Championship of the National University Sports Federation will take place at the University of La Serena.

In this tournament, 16 teams that have qualified in their respective regions will compete, and will seek to win the trophy and the title of 2016 national champion.

The matches will be played on the fields of the Andrés Bello Campus and consider a three-day eliminatory phase (from Tuesday to Thursday, to move on to the second phase on Friday). From this phase the teams will emerge that, during the weekend, will play the semifinals and final of the tournament.

Rugby and Handball Teams

It should be noted that during this week the Rugby and Handball teams are in Antofagasta and Santiago, respectively, about to begin their participation in the Fenaude National Tournaments of both disciplines. Handball begins its participation on Monday, October 17 at 19:30 p.m., while Rugby begins on Tuesday, October 18, in the afternoon.

Positive results, considering the relevance and level of the competition, were obtained by the delegation of the University of La Serena that participated in the Zona-Centro athletics tournament of the Higher Education League, held in Valparaíso.

athletics2Of the participants, Aline Campos and Joaquín Spano returned with bronze medals in the 400 mts. flat ladies and long jump men, respectively. Another important result for the ULS team is having reached the final in the 200 mts. Male plans with 2 athletes: Rodrigo Vera and Joaquín Spano.

The tournament stood out for a series of technical marks of the highest level. The most outstanding was the mark of 10,57 seconds of the winner of the 100 mts final. male planes, which is close to a world-class record.

Students and campus officials enjoyed a pleasant day.

The Great Healthy Fonda 2016 “Healthy but juicy” was held in the University Park of the Isabel Bongard Campus, organized by the Department of Student Health of the DGAE and attended by students and officials from the U. of La Serena.  

healthy2The Department of Extracurricular Activities also participated in the inn with its Folklore Projection Group (COFULS), a group that delighted those present with a cueca performance and traditional dances. Casino and Cafeterias was also present with its stand, where it shared typical healthy food with everyone present.

Important was the participation of SENDA, whose representatives provided prevention information for these National Holidays and prepared non-alcoholic drinks for those attending the inn.

The General Director of Student Affairs, Mg. Miguel Zuleta commented that "this initiative generated by the Department of Health and shared by the other departments of the DGAE, is focused on the comprehensive training of our students, in which the soft skills of future professionals are promoted."

The traditional artistic cast is preparing to surprise the public once again with a show full of magic and skill.

As part of its 65th anniversary, the Mining Circus of the University of La Serena will offer the community a series of presentations in the tent installed in the Espejo de Agua sector of the city of La Serena.

The performances begin on Thursday, August 25 with the Debut at 20:30 p.m., while the Night of Remembrance will take place on Friday the 26th at the same time.

Two performances are planned for Saturday the 27th, the Matinee at 17:30 p.m. and a family function at 20:30 p.m. Finally, on Sunday the 28th it will be presented at Matiné at 17:30 p.m. and at the Gala at 20:30 p.m.

"We are very happy to invite you to our 65th anniversary, a celebration with a special touch, since we are also launching a new tent and we want to involve the entire student community and the region in this great show," said Karen Córdova, member of the grouping.

The student added that on this occasion they also have floor numbers such as juggling, fire, jumping and variety, as well as aerial numbers in which they stand out: simple trapeze, cloth and aerial hoop.

General admission costs 2 thousand pesos, and seniors, children and ULS students pay only 500 pesos.

It should be noted that the Mining Circus of the University of La Serena - dependent on the Dept. of Extracurricular Activities of the DGAE-, is the only circus show in the world performed by university students.

The elective that will be taught through the Digital Campus called Development and Management of the creative process, considers four pedagogical hours per week and is aimed at all students of the University.

Starting in the second semester, students at the University of La Serena will be able to access the elective “Development and Management of the creative process”, a completely online subject that is now available on the Digital Campus. http://campus.userena.digital.

For Mauricio Castillo, Coordinator of the Department of Extracurricular Activities, this initiative, “I was pleasantly surprised by the result. The work behind the development of this workshop exceeds expectations, a very well carried out work, we had several meetings in which our programs and the work of Digital Campus were adapted in a very interesting way. So we hope that the results are the same,” he says, adding that “the offer has been very well received by the students, who even had to support it with a second theory,” he assured.

For the Director of the DGAE, Mg. Miguel Zuleta, the main objective is “to give the best to our students, so that they do well and become good professionals. This course enhances creativity, is very well directed and will help students develop new skills that will be useful to them when they become professionals,” he noted.

The elective, which has four teaching hours per week, seeks to enable students to develop skills that allow them to generate creative solutions to the various situations they must face, diversifying their possibilities for creating and implementing ideas in their respective areas of knowledge.

Mauricio Juica, psychologist by profession and tutor of the subject, hopes that the students “experience the elective as something entertaining and challenging. The fact that it is 100% e-learning does not take away from its demands, and at the same time it includes several activities that involve playing, going outside, 'acting crazy'... seeing things from another perspective and, above all, creating," he explained. .

Likewise, the professional valued that the “University has opportunities to do innovative things for students and that it is open to new ways of teaching. I thank the team of professionals at Campus Digital and the DGAE for making this course possible.”

Finally, the Head of Digital Campus, Humberto Farías, indicated that “this subject is relevant in two dimensions, first it confirms the University of La Serena as a leading institution in the creation of educational content dictated in e-learning modality at the national, priority objective of the Digital Campus. And it is also evidence of the concern to offer its students different modalities that allow them to develop their training process within a framework of quality and flexibility,” he assured.

The registration period is from August 03 to 19 and is carried out in the same way as the rest of the subjects corresponding to the second semester, that is, through the Phoenix platform.
To access Campus Digital, the student must do so with their @alumnosuls email, where they will receive the access account to our platform.

If the student does not have their institutional email, they must request its creation from the Information and Computing Center (CICULS).
