Transfer of data for academic and/or research studies, in addition to talks, workshops, internships, internships and thesis development of University students, are some of the initiatives to be carried out jointly by both institutions within the framework of the collaboration agreement signed. .

Promoting the transfer of knowledge and technology from the University of La Serena to the companies with which SERCOTEC works is the main objective of the collaboration agreement signed by the state university and the Technical Cooperation Service. Likewise, it aims to promote the innovation and entrepreneurship that the productive sector of the Coquimbo Region so needs.

The agreement signed by the Rector, Dr. Luperfina Rojas, and the Regional Director of SERCOTEC, Pascal Lagunas, will allow the participation of academics, officials and students of the University and members of SERCOTEC in various initiatives: developing talks, seminars and/or workshops, and coordinate internships for ULS students and the development of theses, degree works and other types of research, development, innovation or creation projects.

In addition, the agreement considers the implementation of reciprocal internships; field visits and activities of academics, students of the University of La Serena and members of the Technical Cooperation Service, and the transfer of data for academic and/or research studies.

“We know that the research and innovation developed in state universities like ours constitutes a key input for the growth of the productivity and competitiveness of our companies. However, there is often a gap between scientific-technological advances and their application in the real world. For that reason, this agreement seeks precisely to shorten that distance, encouraging the participation of actors from the university's educational community, in support of the development of projects, internships, internships, studies, among others," says Rector Rojas.

The university authority adds that, thanks to the experience and support of SERCOTEC, added to the talent and knowledge of the university community, “we will be able to develop various technology transfer projects in strategic areas such as mining, agriculture, aquaculture and renewable energies.” .

For the Regional Director of the Technical Cooperation Service, this agreement reaffirms “our commitment to the work we are developing with the University of La Serena, made official through this collaboration agreement. This alliance will allow us to continue supporting different businessmen from the 15 communes. SERCOTEC works with different types of entrepreneurs and the idea is to be able to generate links to the different departments to empower the business community, but also the University students through work with the community."
