This Friday, April 12, the Faculty of Social, Business and Legal Sciences (FACSEJ) of the University of La Serena held the ceremony to celebrate its 24th anniversary. The activity began with the presentation of the 2023 Public Account by Dean Dr. Fabian Araya, who highlighted that two of his six majors recently obtained 6 years of certification: Journalism and Auditor Accountant; and an account with 5 years of accreditation: Pedagogy in History and Geography.

“As Dean of the Faculty of Social, Business and Legal Sciences, I want to reiterate our continued commitment to academic excellence, educational innovation and service to our community. Let us face the challenges of the future together with determination and optimism, always remembering that teamwork and collaboration are essential to achieve our goals,” said Dean Araya.

Likewise, he indicated that “cooperative, collective, democratic work and respect for people are very important. There are two programs that have already been certified for 6 years, we have another that is accredited for 5 years and the idea is with the other three programs that remain to begin this year a very systematic process to advance in the same line and that they all reach a standard similar, that no one is left behind.”

Regarding the anniversary, the Rector, Dr. Luperfina Rojas Escobar, stated that “in this public account we have seen the progress, how it has grown, how this important Faculty has developed. Likewise, the projections it has for the year 2025, with a new career, a new diploma program, a new postgraduate degree, is something that motivates us.”

Rojas emphasized that FACSEJ “leads within the institution in the certification of undergraduate programs, with its Auditing and Journalism programs that obtained 6 years of certification. It is a faculty that is in a process of maturation, but it continues to grow, continues to innovate and continues to develop.”

The Rector and the Dean awarded a distinction to academic Germán Solís for having achieved the degree of Master in Interdisciplinary Intervention of Gender Violence at the International University of Valencia.

During the ceremony, the Secretary General, Lorgio Aguilera, read an excerpt from the Decree that changed the name of the former Enrique Molina Garmendia Campus, renaming it Gabriela Mistral Campus. Finally, the Rector and the Dean discovered a copy of a photograph of Gabriela Mistral in her adolescence.

The event also presented the Keynote Talk "Current challenges for the sustainability of businesses and organizations", given by Mg. Reinalina Chavarri, Director of the Sustainability Observatory of the University of Chile, who received a distinction for her participation.

Nicolás Figueroa, a fifth-year law student, said that “the public account is one of the best exercises in transparency and that it allows us to see what the University is doing, what things have been done and the dean explained in detail. super good way that. And it is also exciting to experience these anniversaries, the campus video, singing the University anthem. “It was a super nice ceremony.”
