Better infrastructure and more equipment aim to reinforce the tools that guarantee the quality of the program that has 6 years of certification.

An investment of $120 million was made by the University of La Serena to improve the television studio of the Journalism degree, a project that took 4 years and involves improving infrastructure, connectivity and new technology.

From this perspective, the reopening of this academic space is the renewal of a commitment to institutional quality and excellence in the training of students. For the president of the CEC of Journalism, Krishna Martínez, who is in the fourth year of her degree, “it means a great advance for us, especially in training, because we are in a learning process and having these implements will help us when we have to face to the professional field, and be in a competitive position compared to other professionals.”

On the other hand, Vicente Bertuol, a third-year student, agreed: “I consider this to be a tremendous advance, completely good news for all students, this allows us to position ourselves, and have a seal of quality that the worker identifies and recognizes. “a USerena journalist backed by his institutional career.”

Rector Luperfina Rojas led the ceremony and participated in a press conference held during the event, in which she stated that it is important for students to take advantage of these improvements and “enjoy this space, learn more every day, they have all the technology, all the infrastructure to develop, and I hope they capitalize on what a regional and state university is giving them, and that is at their service.”

On the other hand, the Dean of the FACSEJ, Dr. Fabian Araya pointed out that “for us as a faculty this is a very important milestone because it represents not only a desire of the students, but also of the university community in general that will become "in a center of learning and innovation for our students that marks a significant advance to offer quality education in the field of Journalism."

Likewise, the Director of the School of Journalism, Mg. Cristian Muñoz stated that “having this renovated studio, this reconditioned, modernized space, undoubtedly opens up a lot of opportunities for us in the future, and also helps us to begin developing greater content with much greater impact and more relevance around to the needs of our community.”

The Rector emphasized that “this reopening is a dream come true, I am very happy with the work done. It is an important investment that the institution made with its own resources. This is not a project from one day to the next, it is a project that we developed over four years. The former Rector also supported this initiative enormously, because we know how important it is to train journalists in a state institution, the only state institution in the north that trains social communicators.”
