Students of Basic and Differential pedagogies completed an internship in Chiloé

At the Castro campus of the University of Los Lagos, 36 USerena students lived an exchange experience.

With the aim of publicizing their co-teaching projects carried out during the second semester of 2023, in addition to strengthening their academic and professional skills in a collaborative environment, 35 students from the Pedagogy in Basic General Education and Pedagogy in Education majors Differential from the U. of La Serena carried out an internship at the University of Los Lagos, Castro campus, between March 18 and 23.

The trip was carried out as part of the Project “Co-teaching in the context of higher education: A space for exchanging experience of Interdisciplinary Projects” and the students were accompanied by the Director of the ULS School of Education, Dr. Andrea Vega, and the academic of the Department. Yanett Leiva.

During the internship, students had the opportunity to discuss and provide feedback on their projects through the implementation of technical tables, which were made up of students and academics from the host university. 

Regarding the importance for the training of future teachers, Vega highlighted that this “was a very enriching experience, which allowed us to strengthen future professional skills, mainly for collaborative work, in addition to enriching the proposals designed with an emphasis on interdisciplinary work. of our students. She also generated spaces for reflection with her peers from the U. de los Lagos, as well as soaking up the culture and context of the south.”

For his part, Alan García, student of the Pedagogy degree in Basic General Education ULS, indicated that “this internship meant an instance of learning and comprehensive growth in every sense. This is because we were able to enrich ourselves with the characteristic culture of the south of our country, added to the development of pedagogical skills in the development of the activities carried out daily, generating a high impact in what is our initial teacher training. In addition, the event was used to strengthen ties between universities, which also means a contribution for both houses of study and their students.”

The participants also took a historical and heritage tour through the streets of the city, guided by students from the University of Los Lagos, to conclude their tour with a visit to the Creation Center (CECREA) of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Development. Patrimony, based in Chiloé.

Along with this, they participated in the opening ceremony of the academic year of the University of Los Lagos, where Dr. Vega gave the presentation "Teaching Competencies and attention to diversity: a necessary articulation."

“As for the talk, it was developed with emphasis mainly on co-teaching, the importance and challenges we have as an institution that trains trainers in this field. We are very grateful for the support we received from the university to successfully complete this internship and also to the University of Los Lagos for its pleasant reception,” added the Director.
