U. de La Serena offers a special welcome to its 1.722 new students

During the activity, the Rector highlighted that students are accompanied throughout their university career and that not only academic excellence is relevant but also their quality of life.

With the aim of generating a comprehensive university experience, in the facilities of the Ignacio Domeyko Campus, the University of La Serena began the University Life Induction and Orientation Week 2024. The event was attended by university authorities, directors, academics and students, who had the opportunity to learn relevant information regarding the first years of training at the institution, while enjoying cultural interventions by groups belonging to the ULS.

In this way, with the greeting of the Rector of the University of La Serena, Dr. Luperfina Rojas Escobar - who highlighted the importance of providing support to the student body throughout their academic career -, the series of activities organized for the first week began. of the new university students.

The first university authority stressed that “we will provide them with academic tools of excellence so that they can become professionals of the highest level.” And he added that “the quality of life of our students is one of our priorities, therefore, we work so that at every moment they feel accompanied and know that we will be with them in the leveling process that they will require at the beginning, and also in their different needs through support programs so that they can adapt successfully.”

For her part, the ULS Academic Vice-Rector, Dr. Alejandra Torrejón Vergara, emphasized student well-being and the importance of comprehensive training, considering the recent updates to the Institutional Educational Model.

The activity was also attended by the Deans of each of the Faculties of the institution, who valued the event positively.

Catalina Rivera, from Dentistry, said she enjoyed "this extremely dynamic, entertaining and complete activity, where we were able to get to know different areas of the university, not only the facilities thanks to a tour they gave us, but also the different groups that it has. , like the artistic ones, an example of this, the mining circus. It was super entertaining"

Meanwhile, Fernanda Torrico, from Civil Engineering, from Copiapó, highlighted the welcome organized by the ULS and described it as “incredible, since all the people have been very friendly and have informed us of everything necessary in a timely manner. The campuses are very big and in different places, but I really want to get to know them and for this year to be successful, to pass my classes, to make an effort and for it to be a good year to meet new people, places, in addition to studies.”

From FACSEJ, the Business Administration Engineering student expressed that he was very happy with the start of classes and stated that “I hope that this year, in addition to learning and beginning my professional training, we can have a good time and meet more classmates. I already met some of them and we formed a group, and we will surely continue together to seek academic excellence.”

For his part, Joaquín Núñez, from Pedagogy in Musical Education, said he was “very motivated with all the actions that the university has carried out, first with the leveling and now with the welcome, which has been very entertaining and it is appreciated that they do these things ”.

Likewise, the Federation of Students of the University of La Serena (FEULS), which was present at the activity, highlighted the importance of participating in the opportunities offered by the university: “For us it is an honor to have received this day to the new generation, which joins the classrooms of the State University of the Coquimbo Region. We are super happy and happy to meet them and tell them what university life is like,” said Rocío Lecaros, president.

In this way, with the collaboration of Big Bang Jazz and the Mining Circus, the Induction Week to University Life began, which includes continuing with leveling activities and information fairs on the different campuses of the institution.
