The "Regional Table of Nursing Training Leaders" met this week at the ULS offices. At this meeting a significant step was taken by announcing the creation of the "Academic Networks in Nursing" (RAE) for the Coquimbo Region , thus marking the creation of the first Academic Network in Nursing in the area.

This pioneering project has the primary objective of strengthening educational quality and promoting interuniversity projects that promote the development of nursing in the region. Although it was born with a regional focus, the initiative aims to extend its benefits to all of northern Chile.

The table, which has met monthly since the end of 2023, was conceived with the firm intention of establishing an entity that provides guidance in the academic training of the career in question. Its purpose is to train nurses to face the current demands and those of the coming decades, adapting to the humanity of patients to provide support and containment. Among its objectives, the promotion of skills and techniques suitable for providing an excellent service stands out.

The decision to formalize the structure under the name of RAE reflects a shared commitment to the continuous improvement of the training of nursing professionals. The RAE seeks to consolidate itself as its own entity in the regional academic field, bringing together nursing career directors and academics from prominent educational institutions such as the Universidad Católica del Norte, Universidad Central, Universidad de Santo Tomás, Universidad del Alba and Universidad de La Serena . In addition, interuniversity lines of work have been established for future research, collaboration and training projects, marking an important milestone in the collective search for excellence in nursing training and practice in the Coquimbo Region.

“Within the framework of strategic planning for the year 2024, during the commemoration of International Nursing Day, the board agreed to organize an interuniversity seminar. This will not only address fundamental topics such as preparation for challenges in professional practice, ethics and good training, but will also emphasize specialized knowledge for decision-making and comprehensive assistance to the patient and their family, thus contributing to the advancement of research and scientific dissemination in the field of nursing,” advanced the academics who are part of this initiative.
