Within the framework of the implementation of the Comprehensive Quality Management System of the University of La Serena, units and macrounits work by identifying and diagramming the institutional mission processes. In this workshop, DIVEULS participated by diagramming its processes.

The conference organized by the Office of Comprehensive Quality Management -OGIC-, brought together officials who are actors in processes associated with the management of Linkage with the Environment and Extension who, in joint work with the OGIC, identified and classified advance their processes. Based on this classification, different work tables were generated, which proceeded to diagram them. The working groups addressed different areas that constitute processes for which the Directorate of Liaison with the Environment and Extension, the Graduate Monitoring Office and the General Directorate of Student Affairs are responsible, specifically, in processes that are the responsibility of extension.

This activity is carried out in the context of identification, diagramming, characterization and later formalization of processes. These stages correspond to the process approach model that the institution decided to adopt as a strategy for Quality assurance, which considers that, in accordance with the initial diagnosis, it reviews whether it is a process that is currently being carried out, or whether it needs to be created, either from a strategic perspective or with a view to accreditation.

For Issis Aguirre, Process Analyst, "this type of activities, in which we have the participation of key actors, helps us to better understand our processes, since we have the knowledge and experience of the people who make the process possible. development of each of them. In this context, this instance is carried out, whose product of the collaborative work of relevant work groups, according to the process studied, and the guidance of professionals from the Comprehensive Quality Management Office, it is possible to diagram in its first version, processes such as: Academic Planning for Linkage with the Environment, creation of artistic groups, among others. Then, following the planning, it is expected to adjust the diagrams to a final version, to continue with the Characterization of the Process and subsequently its formalization." .

The Director of Liaison with the Environment and Extension, Mg. Carlos Varas pointed out that “the workshops serve to put in writing procedures that are common and that, regardless of who is working, allow things to be done in the same way, in particular, in the case of extension we did not have processes, so which we are now starting and that is very interesting. In graduates there was already progress in the past and in Linking with the Environment, as the criteria and standards are changing, it will also help us adapt to these new concepts and processes that are appearing. But mainly the fact is that it helps us organize the teams and that is key to ensuring institutional quality standards.”

On the other hand, Edgar Espinoza, employability analyst at the Graduate Monitoring Office, stated that “one of our annual activities corresponds to the collection of information, we contact the graduates, knowing their reality, bringing the processes to a quality standard, Being able to capture and diagram them allows for better structuring of the information, accompanying the process step by step and keeping better control of time. In short, developing our processes allows us to leave something that lasts that can be replicated with the same quality standards, regardless of who does it.”

Likewise, Mg. Rodrigo Davanzzo, Coordinator of the Graduate Monitoring Office, added: “these activities in general impact the processes we carry out, allowing us to organize and focus the actions towards an institutional perspective that is oriented towards the quality and approval processes of the graduates.” services that are generated internally in the OSE, as with other areas of the university.”
