This is the first formal activity of the recently created “Guitar Society” group.

In an intimate atmosphere, the ULS Guitar Quartet and Soloists Concert was presented, in a program that included a first part where each artist performed in solo format and then joint performances by the guitar quartet. This is one of the frequent activities presented by the Music Department, where the work in terms of artistic, academic and research practice is shown.

The artists Mathías Rojas, Jaime Guerrero, Héctor Contreras and Francisco Vergara presented a program with eleven works, two of which were premieres by the performers and composers Jaime Guerrero, with “Katrina”, and Héctor Contreras, with “Impresiones”, both dedicated to people present in the public.

In this regard, Contreras highlighted that "in general, one of the great purposes that the guitar quartet has is to be able to create community (...) This type of way of presenting music can infect people and that is how a sequence is generated. in chain.” In relation to the presentation of his creation, he emphasized: “As for the premiere of my work, I felt good. I have already had the opportunity to premiere 5 of my pieces, and with quartet two (...) I felt very comfortable. Also, my partner was there and it was dedicated to her, so I wanted her to hear it live, for her and for the entire audience. For me it was something super significant.”

For his part, Francisco Vergara announced this activity as the first instance of the newly formed Guitar Society, a group made up of academics and students of the ULS Music Department and guitar supporters. “It is a group that was born from the concern of being able to develop many activities related to the development of the study and dissemination of this instrument, of the classical guitar and even open to the guitar in general,” he said.

It is currently made up of 18 partners and is in the stage of forming its board of directors, to begin soon with work that will contribute to “making a management and work plan for next year and begin to see how we find funds to do all these actions,” Vergara highlighted.
