In the Conference Room of the Department of Economics and Business Sciences of the University of La Serena, the opening day of the sixth version of the Diploma in Tax Management was held, taught by the higher education institution, through the School of Auditing.

This postgraduate program seeks to provide specific knowledge to its students, who at the end of the course will be able to analyze the current tax system, income tax, VAT and Tax Code; know and understand the taxation applied to mining, agriculture and double taxation (companies that operate abroad); analyze the importance of tax management for defining the options that companies have in the area of ​​taxes; and apply tax planning in companies.

The dean of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of the ULS, Mg. Jorge Fernández, pointed out during his presentation that “it is necessary for the audit professional to renew his knowledge permanently, especially at this time, and I will give only two examples where this materializes: the advent of the IFRS, which significantly modified the standards. accounting applied in our country and by the way, the Tax Reform, which almost completely alters the tax structure prevailing until today; For this reason, I congratulate you for the noble task of updating yourself in these important matters.” Dean Fernández also highlighted the effort that each of the Diploma students make to take this postgraduate program. “I am certain that the task is arduous (…) but I have no doubt that in the end they will feel rewarded,” he stated.

Alberto Hernández, director of the Diploma and speaker on the opening day, highlighted the importance of achieving a good relationship with the students, getting to know the teachers and the strengths of this program that is accessed by professionals from both the public and private sectors. “This program is considered one of the good diploma courses taught in the regions. It is a strength because it has a very good team of teachers, from this and other institutions in the country, we are already in the sixth version and this gives us the security of going on a very good path,” he expressed.

Likewise, the professional highlighted the relevance of being able to address in the Diploma a topic as relevant as the Tax Reform and its details. “A large part of the reform issues will be seen in the Income module and according to the deadlines of the reform, we are very interested in being able to work on it in depth,” he explained.

“For our career, completing this sixth version of the Diploma in Tax Management is very important, because we are presenting real specialization and training opportunities for our graduates and for many auditing professionals from the private and public sector who work in the tax area and company accountant. All of them need to improve themselves in the area of ​​taxation, in order to be updated and be able to correctly apply the legislation,” highlighted the director of the Auditing School of the University of La Serena, Mg. Patricia Cortes.

Within the study plan, it is considered that students, during the 180 chronological hours of the Diploma, can update their knowledge regarding the Tax Code, Value Added Tax, Mining Taxation, Agricultural Taxation, Income Tax I, Income Tax II , Tax Planning, Double Taxation, among other topics.
