Director of the Business Administration Engineering program honored for his contribution to tourism

This distinction is awarded to companies, academic institutions and people who have stood out in the tourism field.

In the context of the official launch of the 2021-2022 summer season, the Illustrious Municipality of La Serena and the Illustrious Municipality of Coquimbo distinguished the director of the Business Administration Engineering degree, attached to the Faculty of Social Sciences , Business and Legal ULS, Mg. Andrés Álvarez, for his contribution to the region's tourism sector.

The launching ceremony took place in the Canto del Agua sector on Avenida del Mar and different authorities participated, such as the Governor of the Coquimbo Region, Krist Naranjo; the Presidential Delegate, Ignacio Pinto; the Minister of National Assets, Julio Isamit; the mayor of La Serena, Roberto Jacob, and his counterpart from Coquimbo, Alí ​​Manouchehri.

Regarding the distinction, the academic and director of the Business Administration Engineering degree, Mg. Andrés Álvarez pointed out that “the pandemic was not an obstacle for us to continue working to strengthen regional tourism activity and, in that sense, the municipalities welcomed integrating us into all their strategic planning activities so that in the short term we could return to continue leading tourism at the national level.”

It should be noted that this distinction is awarded to companies, academic institutions and people who have stood out in the tourism field, and the work with public-private alliances in the planning and promotion of local tourist activity, being distinguished this year by Pamela Rubio, manager from the La Serena Club Hotel; Miguel Provoste, director of the Hospitality, Tourism and Gastronomy degree, Inacap La Serena; Andrés Álvarez, director of the Business Administration Engineering program at the University of La Serena; Selmen Buale, manager of Hotel Costa Real; Paula Cavieres, connection with the Universidad Católica del Norte media; posthumous tribute to Nancy García Morales, gastronomic entrepreneur and owner of Velamar Beach; Manuel Schneider, manager of the Regional Productive Development Corporation.
