FIULS 2030 Project carries out Internal Advisory Council and establishes synergies with different ULS Units

FIULS 2030 seeks to generate internal changes in the institution to take a leap towards industry 4.0, which will allow the training of world-class engineers.

The Faculty of Engineering, through the FIULS 2030 Project, created the Internal Advisory Council, an instance that allows generating synergies and developing collaborative work in conjunction with the various initiatives and projects of the Faculty and the Units of the University of La Serena. Academics and authorities from the university participated in the event.

internal advisory board8 1The activity began with the words of the Executive Director of the FIULS 2030 Project, Ricardo Orrego, who stressed the importance of holding the Internal Advisory Council "this meeting is part of the process that will allow us to plan the project in the next 3 years. This planning stage began with the creation of an external Advisory Council in which authorities from the Coquimbo Region, academics from the University of La Serena, Trade Associations and students participated, he stressed.

Subsequently, the coordinators of different FIULS 2030 axes announced the main advances and initiatives developed, with Dr. Ronny Martínez, Coordinator of the Applied R&D and Industry Linkage Axis, and Academic of the Department of Engineering in Food; Mg, Denisse Duhalde, Coordinator of the International Alliances and Mobility Axis and Academic of the Department of Mining Engineering; MTI. Eng. Alejandro Álvarez, Coordinator of the Technology Commercialization and Technology-Based Entrepreneurship Axis, and Academic of the Department of Industrial Engineering; Eng. Jaime Rodríguez, Coordinator of the Curricular Harmonization and Technological Postgraduate Axis, Director of the School of Civil Engineering, and Academic of the Department of Civil Works Engineering.

In the initiative, those present were Dr. César Espíndola, Director of Strategic Development and Quality ULS, Dr. Sergio Torres Director of Research and Development ULS, and the Directors of Departments of the Faculty of Engineering of the University, who had the opportunity to feed -back regarding the work of each of the axes of the FIULS 2030 Project, which allowed for a general look at the joint work that is currently being developed with different units of the university. The above will allow us to face the next challenges that will be carried out in the following stages of the project.

Dr. Ing. Mauricio Godoy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of La Serena, reflected on the changes and transformations that the institution has had in recent years, highlighting the importance of this initiative. “If we take a deep look, we will realize that in recent years our institution has reached an important level of maturity, reflected in the multidisciplinarity and transversality of its work. Today we seek harmony with the objectives, for this reason we value the creation of synergies with the different units. As a Faculty we highlight these instances of dialogue that allow us to strengthen the strategies and policies of the University.”

The FIULS 2030 Project, supported by CORFO, facilitates the implementation of strategic plans, aimed at transforming the civil engineering careers of the University of La Serena with international standards, in the fields of applied research, development and transfer of technology, innovation and Entrepreneurship.
