ULS invites you to participate in the second version of the “I feel Inclusion” contest

With the main purpose of inviting reflection on such important topics as inclusion of people with disabilities, gender equality, interculturality and human rights, the contest seeks to generate social awareness of the enormous diversity that is present in society and respect as part of the social system, without any type of distinction.

For the second consecutive year and after the successful results of the first version of the “I feel inclusion” contest, the members of the General Area of Coordination of Rights and Duties for Comprehensive Training (AGDDFI), which depends on the Academic Vice-Rector's Office, in collaboration with The Directorate of Liaison with the Environment and Extension ULS, extend the invitation to participate to residents in the national territory over 14 years of age, who are motivated to express their reflections through 100-word stories.

It is an initiative that arose given the commitment that the ULS has in terms of achieving the integration of themes of Inclusion, Interculturality, Gender and Human Rights into university work, and increasingly fostering a culture of equity in today's society, highlighting that Valuing our differences and establishing inclusion as a permanent topic of reflection is the responsibility of each of us.

Respecting the right to non-discrimination and the appreciation of all of us who make up this society is undoubtedly a fundamental pillar to make this a better, more equitable society, aware of the importance that human dignity acquires above all things. Therefore, El Mg. Cristian Blanco, Coordinator of AGDDFI, highlights that the University of La Serena is committed to comprehensive training not only of its students, but also of the ULS community and its environment and invites you to participate for the second consecutive year in the contest, “We believe as an Institution that, to overthrow the prejudices and stereotypes that have been imprinted for years in our society, fragmenting human beings and turning them into an individualistic logic, it is necessary to visualize and reflect on Inclusion and disability, gender equality, interculturality and human rights , because only in this way can we realize the enormous damage that discriminatory attitudes bring with them”

He also points out, “Through this contest, we hope that people can reflect on the relevance of not being judged by our personal characteristics, but rather that we are valued for our talents, abilities and skills, understanding that we all have something.” "We have to contribute to society, regardless of our differences, and it is precisely through these differences that both societies and people are enriched, nourished by the experiences and ways of seeing life of all of us who make up the social system."
