At the meeting, the highest university authority stated that a finished technical study is being developed "that will lay the foundations to define one of the important issues such as the location and academic offering that this CFT will have."

Continuing with the work of developing the technical project for the implementation of the Technical Training Center that will be led by the University of La Serena, entrusted by the President of the Republic Michelle Bachellet, the Rector of the house of higher studies, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, met with the deputy for the Ninth District, Daniel Núñez, who on the occasion congratulated the university authority for having managed to carry out this initiative that will benefit the region.

“I come to congratulate you Rector for having allowed this important project for our region to be carried out. Now our responsibility is to implement this project very well. Furthermore, I must highlight the fact of how the University has managed to position itself with this advanced project,” emphasized Deputy Núñez.

On the occasion, Rector Avilés thanked Deputy Núñez for his words, indicating, in turn, the steps that have been taken regarding this work. “We are developing a finished technical study that will lay the foundations to define one of the important topics, such as the location and academic offering that this CFT will have. We have spoken with the mayor and what should be applied in this initiative is the technical criterion, because the place where this CFT is located, which is an emblematic project for the government, must meet the conditions for it to be successful over time, for which it must have a demand that is sustainable over the years and positively impacts vulnerable sectors,” said the Rector.

In this sense, Avilés added that “the type of courses that will be taught will also be the result of a study that includes the contribution of the University, the regional development guidelines, the companies associated with the productive sectors and, of course, the citizens. , because without a doubt what the CFT has to do is fulfill its role for which it was conceived.”

In this regard, Deputy Núñez agreed with the Rector, emphasizing that “the place where this CFT is located must provide guarantees for the project to be sustainable over time.”

Núñez added that “the capital that the University has has to be reflected in this CFT. One building is not enough to support a project of such magnitude. The important thing is to do a deep study of the demand, versus supporting highly vulnerable sectors,” he explained.
