Training Office offers workshops as a new modality to improve work capabilities in times of pandemic

The first of them took place the first week of November with a total of 11 students.

A new modality is added to the course offering that the Training Office of the University of La Serena has available. These are Workshops where all the content is delivered in a day of 4 to 6 hours in synchronous online mode.

Regarding the need that originated this modality, Pablo Sánchez, in charge of the Office, stated: “We have realized that many of our students are looking for a very quick update of specific content, which can in turn be introductory to more content. ; This is why we have decided to address that need with subjects limited to a maximum of 6 hours where we will address a single topic.”

Furthermore, Sánchez commented that audiences can be defined in 2 groups, those who know a topic in a more complete way and do not need to take longer courses, but rather incorporate pending knowledge on the subject; and secondly, to people who want to start exploring a new field, and these workshops are introductory experiences that will allow them to later look for other content options.

This new modality of the courses is aligned with the progress by stages that the Training Office has programmed in the management of the current manager, Eng. Mg. Pablo Sánchez, who highlights: “The diversification of the offer is what we have worked on for the first 3 years, then came the diversification of payment methods, then the diversification of registration and enrollment channels; and today we rethink with the pandemic the diversification of the way knowledge is transmitted; and we reached a new synchronous online format, which during the year began only with courses and will end in 2020 with workshops and courses.”

Finally, Sánchez refers to the changes that the Office is developing in these times, where the national health situation has forced people to stay at home and the impossibility of carrying out courses in person. “Our convictions have not changed due to the pandemic, they continue to be a serious option for continuous improvement and education. Now, based on the current limitations, we have looked for other ways, and it is in that journey that this idea of Workshops arises that not only gives us a new service but also turns out to be a lower value option for those who have seen their lives affected. income in this period.”

This modality has already begun its first activity, where the Workshop Course “Title study, procedures in notaries and real estate conservatorship” was carried out, in its first version, with a group of 11 students.
