FACSEJ Webinar explains the Circular Economy and its approach to “Circular Business Models”

A series of meetings will be held during the second half of this year, with the purpose of explaining to the ULS community different aspects of the global and national economy.

What the circular economy means, how we can understand it and what focuses it covers was the main objective of the webinar organized by the Faculty of Social, Business and Legal Sciences of the ULS, together with CEC students from different degrees at the faculty.

In the activity, which had varied participation from the ULS community, the academic Mg. Yerko Cortés was in charge of the presentation, who explained to all those who were connected remotely, the issue that today is not only a national issue, but also of importance in the world economy.

“We always try as a faculty to put issues that are contingent and that dominate the economic agenda, and that is why this time we opted for circular business models, to solve problems that many companies have,” said the academic and lecturer who also said, with the support of academic Mg. Karin Ortloff.

It should be noted that the circular economy is an economic concept that is interrelated with sustainability and where it seeks to ensure that the value of products, materials and resources are maintained in the economy for as long as possible, generating the least amount of waste. in the environment. Regarding this last aspect, it was explained how to achieve it, considering that recycling is one of the main concepts rooted in this model, and that, however, it does not have all the focuses that are needed to be a circular economy model.

The students of the CEC of Commercial Engineering, Daniela Venegas, Katherine Castillo and Vaythiare Gatica, participated in the organizing committee of the activity, as well as the professional in charge of Liaison with the Faculty's Environment, Daniela Pallero.

This type of activity will be a constant during the second semester and it is expected that the participants will continue to join, considering that the focused topics are precisely for the community in general to learn about aspects of the economy that are relevant for thinking. in future ventures and companies.
