#LaCienciaDelCovid: new ULS commitment to share knowledge with the community in the midst of the pandemic

A new communication campaign, motivated by the commitment to share knowledge that improves life, was made available by the University of La Serena, this time by academics and researchers from the ULS Faculty of Sciences. The initiative - which will extend for 2 weeks through the University's digital channels - educates about Covid-19, answering questions and explaining concepts and processes related to human health, immunology, molecular biology, microbiology, epidemiology, bio-ethics , among others. For the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Dr. Amelia Ramírez, #LaCienciaDelCovid is evidence of the academic work of disseminating knowledge that the University has always done but which, in this pandemic context, becomes even more relevant: “The historical context What we find ourselves in requires that universities be strongly attuned to the needs of our environment. We have always done this by training professionals, but now we are sharing knowledge in a different way, providing guidelines, assurances and teaching to those who need it. Through these capsules we are reaching directly and sealing a commitment to continue doing this type of activities and dissemination that is so necessary for the community of the Coquimbo Region.” For her part, the Coordinator of the Scientific Communication Nucleus of the Faculty of Sciences and Doctor in Immunology, Marcela Gatica, commented that the purpose of the initiative is “to deliver in-depth concepts with a language suitable for everyone; With this, we can fully understand the importance of what is happening and be able to make decisions and opinions in an empowered and sustained way as a citizen.” The campaign begins this Monday, August 5, and consists of 10 video capsules, which will be disseminated through official social networks of the University of La Serena and via email to its community @userena.cl. “The material of the #LaCienciaDelCovid campaign will also be available on the website userena.cl/coronavirus, a virtual space where we have gathered, as a repository, the communication and dissemination actions deployed in this period of pandemic,” commented the Director of Strategic Communication ULS, Carola Espinoza.
