Astronomy and eclipses in the Mapuche world will be the first topic to be discussed at the beginning of the third season of the “AstroSerena” series of talks, organized by the University of La Serena, through its Department of Astronomy, and the collaboration of the Gemini Observatory , and that this year it will be carried out remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic that afflicts the entire world.

For the creator of the initiative, the astronomer and ULS academic, Dr. Rodolfo Angeloni, “the idea of ​​AstroSerena is to reach all types of audiences and to remain over time as a cultural option within the framework of astronomy and related sciences. . “This is the third season where around 10 exhibitors will participate, with talks twice a month, until the end of August.”

For DIDULS, it is important to continue supporting initiatives that allow us to bring knowledge closer to the community, through technological modalities that are being the usual communication tools under the current situation we are experiencing, as they are relevant elements of the ecosystem that promotes research at the institution.
