ULS academics join the participatory process to enrich the National Science Policy

Researchers, managers, directors and various agents relevant to the regional and national ecosystem in Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, joined the participatory process of dialogues to enrich the 1st National Policy, which was developed at the University of La Serena. .

This event was carried out within the framework of Law 21.105, which creates the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, and its purpose was to promote the participation of citizens and the different actors in the ecosystem.

The Regional Ministerial Secretary of Science of the central macrozone, for the regions of Coquimbo and Valparaíso, María José Escobar, stated that the day developed yielded profound conclusions. “The participation was very active, with an important commitment and interest in participating in the preparation of this policy, which is a proposal and the idea is to enrich it with different perspectives, but also, how this leads to an action plan that guarantees "that these axes and dimensions achieve the goal that is set out."

For his part, the Director of Research and Development of the University of La Serena, Dr. Sergio Torres, valued the initiative. “It is extremely constructive that the community of the Coquimbo Region can participate in the strengthening of this policy, since it allows us to be part of contributing to its definition within the scope of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation. For our University, being present with our academics contributing their knowledge and experiences is absolutely positive.”

The dialogue process seeks to specifically strengthen the Axes of Chile's National Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation Policy. This participatory instance will be an input that will then continue with the drafting of the National Policy, its administrative processing and publication.

During the day, work tables were established where 4 relevant axes were discussed: Linking with society, Strengthening the CTCI ecosystem, Future of Chile, Institutional capacities.
