5 undergraduate students, 1 academic and 3 students of free choice of the University of La Serena were the beneficiaries of the Santander Iberoamerica Scholarship, who will carry out an internship of 1 semester in different universities abroad.
Among the institutions that will host the students of the house of studies, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the University of Valencia, the University of Malaga and the University of Murcia, all in Spain.
“As a University, it is essential to maintain a set of links for student exchange with institutions that have common academic areas. This has allowed us to give our students the opportunity to improve in educational institutions abroad, acquiring learning through the exchange of knowledge and experiences, ”said the Rector of the University of La Serena, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, regarding the opportunity that students have so they can improve their training in foreign institutions.
For his part, the manager of Santander Universities and Institutions at Banco Santander, Rodrigo Machuca, affirmed that “as Banco Santander we believe that scholarship to higher education students is to invest in future professionals during their training period and, under this line, we want thank the University of La Serena for allowing us to develop these types of initiatives. ”
The students benefiting from this scholarship are Jessica Castillo, from Engineering in Business Administration; Lizhet Jorquera, of Pedagogy in Differential Education; Paula Montaño, of Law; Cristian Navarro, of Architecture; Camila García, of Pedagogy in Nursery Education; Matías Jara, of Pedagogy in History and Geography; Yerko Rubilar, of Journalism, and Javiera Salas, of Pedagogy in Basic General Education, in addition to Professor Lídice Zuleta, of Nursing.
Finally, for Javiera Salas, student of 3 ° year of Ped's career. Basic General Education and benefiting from this scholarship, the opportunity given by the house of studies is unique and very important for its formation. "It is a very important experience, not only means being able to travel abroad, but it is also a plus that will help my academic training and my professional development, since it will allow me to transmit a different experience to my future students," he said.
