Law School inaugurates academic year with talk by the Director of the Judicial Academy

The Law degree of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of the University of La Serena inaugurated its academic year for the third consecutive year, an event that was attended by the Director of the Judicial Academy of Chile, Mg. Juan Vargas Viancos, who gave the keynote talk “The challenges of training judges in Chile”.

The solemn activity took place in the Pentagon Room of the campus and was attended by the Academic Vice Chancellor, Dr. Jorge Catalán Ahumada, the Academic Secretary of the FACSE, Mg. Carolina Rodríguez Malebrán, the Director of the Law degree, Mg. Carlos Magna Rodríguez, the Race Coordinator, Mg. Christian Merino Álvarez, among other University authorities, students and special guests.

The Mg. Carlos Magna valued the importance of solemnly marking the beginning of a new year. “The inauguration of the academic year aims to highlight certain topics, we have the opportunity and the grace of having great people, and this occasion has not been the exception,” he stated.

The keynote talk allowed us to learn about a historical approach to the academy, and also the opportunities and challenges that the institution faces today. The academy is an institution concerned with the training needs of both the applicants to the Primary Rank of the Judiciary, as well as its members, and with the achievement and increase of those knowledge, abilities, skills and basic criteria necessary for the proper exercise. of the judicial function.

The Director of the Judicial Academy thanked the invitation and recognized the position that the Law program has at the country level, “The effort that the Law program at the University of La Serena has made with its students to instill in them an interest is very valuable. for public affairs, and there is no public function more attractive and important for our country than the judicial function,” he pointed out.
