The work designed by the Research and Development Directorate around coordinating ULS resources and capabilities to explain the eclipse to the national and regional community is already bearing fruit.

Today, Wednesday, April 10, two national media published the opinion of the ULS researcher, Dr. Guillermo Damke, thus encouraging public opinion to educate itself and learn about the academic talent of the University of La Serena.

"This experience of joint work is the result of the inspiration that our Rector, Dr. Nibaldo Avilés, gave us in the recent public account by inviting us to work collaboratively and dream big. From the Research and Development Directorate we responded to this call by creating a eclipse programming and dissemination committee, the results of which are already being observed in national and local media," explained Dr. Sergio Torres Flores, Director of Research and Development.

In the coming days, and after the Rectory seals the conversations with the Municipality of La Serena, the program of scientific-educational activities in the commune will be communicated. "To achieve this coordination we have had the collaboration of academics from different faculties, because the eclipse is an astronomical phenomenon but it presents educational opportunities of different types. We can explain it from tourism, the impact on transportation, health, self-care, etc. Therefore, working with researchers from different departments and faculties is crucial," Torres emphasized.
